No need for some of the paragraphs on here from some great KZitem 'intellectuals'. Just enjoy the song and stop over-complicating such a great band you idiots. You only spout your shit on the internet because no-one wants to listen to you ramble nonsense in real life.

Surprisingly I wasn't too impressed by the all-hailed Whatever People Say in the beginning, now that I understand the band more, I started to like it. Albums tend to get better after a few spins, I always try to find what's in the music (melody, lyrics...) . Kinda glad they moved on from the era of the first album, part of a band's journey I guess. No one can be young forever. But that doesn't mean the soul in the music is gone, seek and you shall find.

Love the change of direction they were taking during Humbug. About 'emotional connection', that's down to different taste I think, probably because I wasn't even aware of who Arctic Monkeys are (call me thick if you want) when the first album came out. Only discovered them last year and love Humbug at first listen, still remains my favourite album from them.

they have a few good tunes left in them. not enough for a consistently marvelous album, but they're worth a listen. if only they hadn't taken a foot off the pedal of their refreshing youth. I have heard and read that they are sick of some "whatever people say i am" tunes by now. They feel they are more mature than mardy bum or a certain romance. Those of us who demand an emotional connection to music probably understand: they will never top tracks like those with such an attitude.

this is awesome. I heard this version about a month before humbug came out. very excited when i saw this would be on the album. At first I was put off by how the studio version changed in, but then it grew on me. However, I was still disappointed that a song seeming this good could not really save the album's potential (up to that track). Let us fondly remember the days when AM's b-sides (tmta, no buses, bakery) outshined what would be their later album tracks.

Listen to the real version off of the album and you'll be taken off into another universe at the depth of the sound, the wooing in the background, the jangly guitars, and Alex's mesmerizing voice. Great song.

@SpaceCraftONBOARD how do you even compare the two? Lil Wayne's music sounds nothing like this? They can't be legends in their own genres? Not that Lil Wayne would EVER be a legend of rap. He doesn't come close to the people that came before him.

For me this is just one of the best songs I've ever listened to, although I don't know many groups or much different music. I don't really understand why so many people say it is one of the worsts of the album, although I respect all the opinions.

The songs onthis albm (which I love) don't make for the best accoustic sessions. Although I do like Turners vocals more in the accoustic, they arent as polished as the sound on the album.
