Fellow Kentuckian, I have a request. A detailed tutorial on the TD 750 and milvis310 from kphl to kewr ils flight. My confusion is how and when to properly use both screens and when to activate to final. Example one shows the flight track, the other doesn’t. I don’t care about all the fluff of flying, just the hard specifics. Much thanks in advance! Greg, Prospect, my.

This was amazing. I think I will GTN 750Xi over the GTN 650. The bigger screen will help to see all of these steps better in the cockpit.

Question - If you picked up flight following from Louisville, how would you craft your radio request? Your flight path is east (odd thousands + 500) then west (even thousands + 500) and it uses airways instead of going direct. So I'm curious how you would ask for this when you talk to approach control (or your class D airport) when departing. Thus far I've always been flying direct when using flight following.

That’s always an interesting dilemma of how much do you tell ATC when asking for flight following? I’ll usually just tell ATC my destination and leave it at that unless I have waypoints that are significantly off the direct course. If I’m going from Louisville to, let’s say Florida (not doing that Vfr, but let’s say there is a reason to) I’d tell tower I want Vfr flight following to Orlando at 7,500 with an initial heading of whatever. When I get maybe 10 miles from the point where I’m turning more west as in your example I’d let that controller know “I’ll be turning heading 190 at the ___ vor” Give the controllers what they need but don’t overload them with information they aren’t going to use. If you’re Vfr don’t expect them to pass much info onto the next controller.

@@kycsip3066 Thank you! That makes perfect sense. I appreciate the video and your response. I got my PPL last year and purchased a 182Q in August. Living the dream. I’ve been working on Instrument ground school and should be shooting my first approaches within the next few months.

Why was the "Activate APPR" button grayed out @14:46? Too close to GRUNZ?

Nice video. I was able to follow along but agree that a bit slower would help. I'm already pretty familiar with this stuff and still had to backtrack a bit. You probably know this, but there are those who would not use VTF in that situation although it definitely works. Direct the GRUNZ on the approach (that's what it looks like in the video) or intercept the GRUNZ - WYLER leg would provide the same result and be preferred by many instructors and pilots.

SLOW DOWN! For anyone trying to LEARN and practice as you go you are going way too fast. You burn right through what you are doing and I can't even catch what it is without backing up a lot. No way to slow UTube down to help out.

@@kycsip3066 The pace is fine. Great video. Apparently, people aren't aware that you can skip back 10 seconds and rewatch a section. Also people don't know that you can slow down KZitem videos. Maybe some people should watch videos of how to use common internet platforms before trying to learn GPS IFR procedures.
