im glad you guys knew the history - great explanation and reaction. they arent actually from 'the same town.' i believe taylor is referring to LA as the "same own" and being in the same circles.. the reference to "local paper" is about kim often saying stuff to the tabloids in LA about her which wasn't true... "threatening to push her down the stairs at our school" being her acting like a bully.

Kick ass song. I have never seen the lyrics, but it def is not "fun house". I hear "pr0n house" (but acknowledge that Tim Armstrong is very marble mouthed.) As in, a theater that shows films of an adult nature. Maybe NYC emporia of that nature at 52nd and Broadway had pinball machines in the lobby. Up until the internet became a thing most folks had access to, "pr0n houses" existed. Every major city had 'em up until the very late 90s / early aughts. I used to drive by two everyday in St. Paul in the mid 80s. I live downtown in my relatively major city in 2024, and there is a "pr0n shop" about six blocks away down by the river underneath a bridge.

You guys need to see her live performances from her Reputation tour. Totally different vibe, which is typical for her. All her albums are totally different. Check out 'Are you ready for it with intro' live. Also live performances of 'Don't blame me' & 'I did something bad' & 'Vigilante shit' (about Scooter Braun who screwed her out of her music. Taylor helped his ex, divorce him LOL) They show badass Taylor.

Yes, Kim released an edited version of the phone call & called Taylor a liar & a snake. The media turned on her & she disappeared for a year & came back with her 'Reputation tour'. Check out the video for her song for Kanye, Kim & the media called 'Look what you made me do'. She starts with a line singing 'I don't like your tilted stage (Kanye did that), the role you made me play, the fool, I don't like you'. The song basically tells how they 'made her get hard' & leave naive, trusting Taylor in her rear view mirror. Great song & video. Also, lots of snakes in sets & performances & costumes for that tour too.

This song is so good and the books it is based on is definitely is on my "to read" list but that ones is fucking gigantic thanks to Blind Guardian, I did quite recently read The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings thanks to Blind Guardian. I am quite slowly making my way through The Adventures Of Tom Bombadil which I got as a farewell gift from my internship along with a Blind Guardian shirt. The book was given to me by just one person though and it was a thoughtful gift as he asked me beforehand what Tolkien books my dad owns and I got him to read The Silmarillion.

You must be joking🤣The writing on TTPD is brilliant on every single song. If you don´t think so, then the writing is clearly too advanced and has too many double, tripple entendres, metaphores and language for you to grasp on first listen. Her lyrics have so many layers that if you are a person who only listen/comprehend lyrics on a surface level, it is just a little too advanced for you, especially on this album, but poets, great musicians and writers see the genius on first listen. But for most they see the genuis when they comprehend more of her many metaphores, double meanings and literary references. But to say TTPD is lacking in the lyrics is honstely crazy and laughable and embarrassing on your part...

Wow...this just popped up in my watch again list! Glad it did...great song, classic review! Deeper into the "privileged fucks like me" line...he's talking about living in a country where you have the right and are privileged to have that right to speak out about the faults of your government...where as in so many other countries, you end up in jail (or worse) if you speak out against your government. So...when you are priviliged enough to have that right, you should feel obliged to exercise that right.

Cowboy Bebop was produced by Sunrise and aired from April to June 1998, with some of the series' 26 episodes. In September 2001, a theatrical version, Cowboy Bebop: Door to Heaven, was released. It won the TV award at the 3rd Kobe Animation Festival in November 1998, and the Nebula Award in the Media category at the Japan Science Fiction Convention in 2000. Set in the solar system centered on Mars in 2071, this space western anime follows the adventures of bounty hunter Spike Spiegel and his crew as they travel aboard the dilapidated spaceship, the Bebop. It features stylish dialogue, cool visuals, and thrilling mecha and gun action. The main story has a hard-boiled touch, but the style varies depending on the episode, with a wide range including suspense, horror, slapstick comedy, and cyberpunk. As the title "Bebop" suggests, the series uses a variety of music genres, including jazz, blues, rock, and techno, and this, combined with its unique worldview, creates a unique style that was not seen in existing science fiction works. Director Shinichiro Watanabe said, "I made this by putting in everything I had wanted to do up until then but couldn't," and "I thought I was making a 20-minute movie each time." When it was first broadcast, many people said it was similar to "Lupin the Third," but according to Watanabe, it is more similar to the TV drama "Detective Story," starring Yusaku Matsuda, which was popular in Japan in the 1970s (including the narration for the next episode preview). Another feature of this work is that the racial characteristics of the characters are well reflected in the design of the world setting. According to character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, this was because director Watanabe gave permission. The production was handled by Sunrise Studio 2. The core staff was made up of people from the network of Watanabe and producer Masahiko Minami, who had previously been involved in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Macross Plus, and Escaflowne. After the TV series was produced, Minami and his team left Sunrise to found Bones, which produced the film. Sunrise is originally a studio that produces many original robot animes with the intention of commercializing toys, but the idea for this work also came from an offer from Bandai Hobby Division, who saw a spaceship boom coming with the resurgence in popularity following the release of the new Star Wars trilogy, to make an anime that could be developed into spaceship plastic models. When Minami asked Watanabe if he had any ideas, he was inspired by the work of American bounty hunters and immediately came up with an idea for a stateless action movie set in space in the near future. The concept was "space jazz" rather than space opera, and the project title was "Shooting Star Bebop!" . However, the unique style of the work was met with a negative response from those around, and it was almost lumped together with another project that Sunrise was working on at the same time. The sponsor almost dropped the project, saying, "This won't sell spaceships," but with the cooperation of Bandai Visual, the show was able to be aired. The record company releasing the soundtrack opposed the idea, saying, "How many jazz records do you think sell in Japan?" (Music director Yoko Kanno also said that she initially thought, "Jazz will never sell"), and those involved who watched the first episode before it aired commented, "It's too dull. It won't sell." With no prospect of royalty income from the toys, a detailed plan was devised to recoup the investment through music CDs and video packages. As a result, the software was a hit, and Sunrise stated that this work "achieved sales of videos and music CDs comparable to those of the Gundam series." According to producer Minami, the production costs were so high that the president of Sunrise said to him, "Minami, are you trying to ruin the company!?" The opening and ending songs and background music in the film were all composed by Yoko Kanno, with the exception of a few, and performed by The Seatbelts, a group that included Kanno and other musicians from Japan and abroad. In addition to the ending song, vocal songs were used extensively. The first soundtrack won the Animation Album of the Year award at the 13th Japan Gold Disc Awards. The theme song, Tank!, was used in the short program of Canadian male single skater Kevin Reynolds at the 2016 Canadian Figure Skating Championships (with costumes by Spike Spiegel). The terrestrial broadcast version was subject to self-censorship, and violent and sexual content, as well as flashing lights, were revised or cut. This was due to the fact that between the start of production and the broadcast, there were violent crimes committed by minors, such as the Kobe serial child murders and the Tochigi female teacher stabbing incident, and TV Tokyo's regulations were strengthened due to the "Pokémon Shock." The final episode, a compilation titled "Yoseatsume Blues - A Collection Blues," is a protest against these restrictions and cuts in the form of monologues by the main characters, and unlike regular compilations, it makes almost no reference to the story itself. The ending concludes with the provocative message, "THIS IS NOT THE END. YOU WILL SEE THE REAL "COWBOY BEBOP" SOMEDAY!" This episode has been excluded from subsequent rebroadcasts and has not been included on video software such as DVDs. In the United States, the series was first released on video and DVD, and was broadcast nationwide (TV-14: ages 14 and over only) on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim slot from September 1, 2001, where it gained popularity. However, the depictions of fake blood and naked women were edited out for this broadcast, and episodes 6 (as they were reminiscent of the Columbine High School shooting), 8 (hijacking), and 22 (building bombing) were not broadcast on the first episode due to broadcasting codes and the influence of the September 11 terrorist attacks (though they were aired in a rerun immediately after). The evolution of the theme songs is as follows 😌 Opening theme "Tank!" Composed by Yoko Kanno / Performed by The Seatbelts (THE SEATBELTS) Ending theme "THE REAL FOLK BLUES" Lyrics by Yuho Iwasato / Composed and arranged by Yoko Kanno / Sung by Mai Yamane "SPACE LION" (#13) Composed by Yoko Kanno / Performed by The Seatbelts (THE SEATBELTS) "BLUE" (#26) Lyrics by Tim Jensen / Composed and arranged by Yoko Kanno / Sung by Mai Yamane Here's the OST 😀 [COWBOY BEBOP SOUNDTRACK 1] Released May 21, 1998 (VICL-60201) Won the Grand Prize in the Animation Album category at the 13th Japan Gold Disc Awards. I forgot to tell you about an important topic about Yoko Kanno 😅 When the current Emperor ascended to the throne in 2019, she was asked by the Imperial Household Agency to compose a congratulatory song, and when she performed it in front of the Emperor and Empress, the Empress was so moved that she shed tears when she heard it 😌 She is also from Miyagi Prefecture, which was the most affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and she composed the charity song "Flowers Bloom" to support the reconstruction efforts. A special version was released in which famous Japanese talents, actors, and musicians sang the song, and it is still sung by choirs all over Japan.😢
