All well and good, until the wind shifts or gusts.😂

And the point is what. His boat knows how to point into the wind?

...wow, dumbest thing I ever saw a "sailor" do - he didn't even have lines or fenders ready. I've docked under sail countless times - not always pretty, but never this stupid.

Skateboard tricks with sailboats. Is that an Ollie? Sooner or later, I suspect that he will grind the rail.😂 Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.

🤔🤔🤔 this is just some sort of trick but not docking. While 8 was going back up river to the little per I kept my sail boat, my old engine died out. The river was quite narrow and full of sand banks so it was dodgy to sail back to the per. Anyway that day I had no choice so I sailed. The complications of the narrow river and sand banks didn't end there as the per was very small and I had to dock between 2 fishing boats. It s a bit difficult to explain as I had to use the particular wind direction of the time as well as the current. So I had to sail past the per, have my boat head into the wind to stall her reduce the sail area and push by hand my main so that the wind may push me nicely right between the 2 fishing boats. There was no knocking and banging just a perfect docking. I have to admit that I was a bit stressed 😅😅😅 but I did it and it reinforced my self confidence on my sailing skills. Of course it was done at a time when no one really took video of themselves 24/7 😂 but there was that old German tourist watching me. He said something like: ”I can see that you have practiced that manoeuvre many times, excellent”. I didn't tell him the truth that it was the first time 😂 but I was sure very happy.

0:55 I would have wet myself laughing if it had bore away just fractionally more than he had calculated. Topped of with the overstretching reach culminating in a triple sulko into the water (more points for a perfect splash free entry) I’m being sarcastic/ironic call it what you will as the title is misleading (as is 80% of KZitem) and if the poster had said “smart handling manoeuvre” I wouldn’t be rather disappointed. Be that as it may, that’s a chap that knows his boat 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

what docking? If at the beginning he would have gotten close drop the sail, jumped out and moored to the cleat then that is "DOCKING" by sail Otherwise is a man showing off how NOT to dock by sail

Nothing impressive about this except the amount of luck. No fenders, no lines, no skipper and not into wind.

Lesson learnt - you need to be able to stop when required!! If he'd tried it the other way he'd have been ok. (Assuming he remembered to bring a mooring rope with him as he stepped off!!)
