Just after Kathys deformity, she began wearing a half mask, and hung around the rafters of the Komo studio playing the Orgin. They say to this day, If you listen carefully... you can still hear her Organ playing and evil laughter coming from the ventilators.

This was just beautiful, Dan. I search for this every year or so to watch it again. My sister-in-law received a lot of support and courage after speaking to Kathi as they both went through the same battle of multiple surgeries and radiation without ever being able to completely remove the tumor due to its precarious location in the base of the brain. Unfortunately, my SIL also suffered the same facial paralysis shortly before she, too, passed. I was a stranger to Kathi and yet I still grieve her loss. I feel for her family and dear friends like you who would feel it tenfold.

Kathi and I had the same neurosurgeon at Swedish. I saw her there one day, would have said hello, but I wanted to give her some kind of privacy as she faced her situation. My tumours have also come back, and my health continues to slowly but inexorably deteriorate. I'm 48 now, don't know if I'll make it as long as she did. She still gives me courage, especially hearing her talk about death. Unlike her, I'm terrified of it. Didnt used to be, but after an extremely traumatic near-death experience, now I find all of this so much harder to face. She was blessed more than many to be surrounded by family and friends, and with all the resources she needed to be as comfortable as possible. I'm glad for her that she had that, and know that she would have been the first with compassion for those who don't. I hope she's right, and there is more than "this shell", and that that "more" is something good and not to be feared. I hope someday when I'm not suffering in this body anymore, maybe I'll meet her and be able to thank her for the courage she never knew she'd given me. Thank you too, Dan, for showing how a good friend stands with someone going through a long and hard-fought battle. Most people just don't know how, and you did so beautifully! If you remember me, say a prayer? I'd dearly love to get strong enough again to leave my apartment and participate in life before I die. "As much as I can, for as long as I can" is my motto, and my dearest wish after that is to die suddenly, with no more suffering. I've had enough of that for many lifetimes. I'm so sorry Kathi had to die the way she did, and so young, but I'm glad for her that she had you all, and her faith and courage, and that wonderful sense of humor! Thank you, and sorry for such a long comment, lol!

@queltica...I don't know if you will read this response. First let me express my sympathies that you are facing such tremendous struggles with your health. I would like to offer this prayer for you: Dear Heavenly Father, I petition You in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that You will reveal Your Great Love and Mercy to Queltica. The same way You reached down from Heaven in August of 1986 and prompted me in my heart to pick up a little New Testament Bible and to find Your eternal truths in there. Father, please reveal to Queltica that You are the only true and living God Who has all power in Your hands. Please guide her to start reading the Bible and let her put all her trust in You through Jesus Christ. Please guide her to just cry out to you in prayer knowing that You hear her. Please send the Holy Spirit to comfort her and remove all fear and doubt and to know in You is Life Eternal. Perfect Love casts out all fear. Jesus Christ conquered death and the grave at Calvary's Cross and is the Resurrection and the Life. Please let Queltica come to a true saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let her have true peace, hope, and joy to overflowing and to know that when this life is over the majestic wonders of Heaven await her that will last for all eternity. I pray all this in the Mighty, Matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ. AMEN
