Sturt Creek is one of three water courses that start on Innverway Station. The other two are the Negri, which flows into the Ord and the Victoria River.

Did you/they sight Wolf Creek Meteorite crater? It’s the most perfect circular meteor crater in Australia. A significant amount of its floor has been filled in over time.

@@michaelhayden725 no as it’s a NP and we were traveling with a dog we couldn’t go in. We’d also heard the road was bad and a car towing a van had been bogged and needed help the day before!

@@Tarlo84 yep, so do the books, it’s a bit like fish names, Barramundi Cod, Australian Salmon for example. It’s why I prefer Latin scientific nomenclature.

We did the same trip in 2021, with four Landcruisers, two Lotus Freelanders, one JB Scorpion and one Option RV, we did it in three days with two overnight stops in the gravel pits, the upgrade works had not started. We travelled mostly in the drains on the right side of the road as it was the smoothest section only coming out to the road where they had graded into the bush for drainage. All four cruisers limped into Halls Creek with no fuel in the Jerry cans and low fuel lights on. The only damaged was a snapped UHF aerial and one microwave oven that thought the floor was a better option than above the fridge. Do it again in a heartbeat.

Yep we loved it too! Couldn’t find any detailed road conditions information, hence the video to show others what it was like! We have long range fuel tanks so no issue for us! We just got off in time before it was closed again due to rain!

Thanks for putting your trip out there, we’re planning to this next year, hopefully the road works will be finished by next May. Were you towing a caravan ? How many litres of fuel did you use?

Happy to share as I was searching for info and couldn’t find a lot!!! We have a slide on camper on a 79series and average around 13L per 100km. We are towing a small offroad trailer with extra stuff.

@@Tarlo84 thanks for your reply. We tow a 3t caravan with our 300 series Land Cruiser our fuel consumption is between 18 to 20 litres per 100 kms , it looks like we’re going to carry a lot of fuel as we’re travelling from the Alice Springs end.

@@briananddianehardy8598 you’ll need to have enough fuel for the 800km between fuel stops. We have long range tanks.
