Pink Moon is a masterpiece. In that album Nick Drake stepped away from others to make his music by himself, but ultimately he failed to make it for himself. He had the wisdom to know he made better music alone, but he still needed others to like it. Or maybe not. I suspect he had a lot going on

The 70's were hard on the musicians. Most of the 27 club died in 70 or 71. Then Nick. And Phil. And ending with the murder of John.

Ben has been a hero of mine since day 1 when I came across a copy of every kingdom on a pub counter I'm Porthtowan, Cornwall. His quiet approach to life and dedication to his craft sucked me in. I loved that he didn't Want to perform the tracks that made him famous as I went to the gigs when he was really struggling and it didn't take a lot to see why. Sometimes you get famous when you just don't want to be. I was so lucky to see him perform with A Blaze of Feather last month at the Minack Theatre. Just playing the guitar. Happy and content. Close enough to reach out too but you know he was in his happy place. Keep being you Ben that's all we will ever ask. 💙

"A light that burns twice as bright but for half as long " is never a life wasted. I was introduced to Nick on a Harvest compilation album, the track "Northern Sky " blew me away. I was 17 at the time. On the Album where Barclay James Harvest, Roy Harper, and Amazing Blondel, (Yes this was 1972/3) and so many others so Nick was in excellent company. Nicks problem was just that , it was the 70s and musically so much was happening that he got over looked, nothing more, His talent was assured just over looked. Fast forward to the 2000s and a film set in New York and a young couple who meet, lose them selves and re-meet again (forget the films name ) and as the hero lays down snow flakes fall and the haunting Northern Sky can be heard, Older, wiser, and with more time and money I rediscovered Nick and all three of his albums. I was not disappointed. Your Video Explains Nicks life, Quite, to the point , and non sensational ( a bit like Nicks music) . Well done you. The Film in question is Serendipity and just seen it on this page, well worth the watch.

There's this peace, once you learn to live with uncertainty. It's that trust, that whatever will happen you'll figure it out. So it's okay not to have meaning, it's okay to just experience things. Whatever they'll lead to you'll be fine. Not always better, but that's okay
