This was absolutely stunning and inspiring to watch. I read through the comments and can’t believe the colours were practically straight out of the camera (I don’t like the washed out look that seems to be popular at the moment. Your colours are gorgeous. Could you possibly tell me your settings? Braw? I’m a beginner and I would really appreciate it. Oh- and make more videos! 🙏

What was your method of grading these shots? Color space transform or lut based?
@adambostock5416

No colour grade. Colours are straight out of camera. I select DaVinci YRGB Colour Managed in project settings which automatically converts the Log footage to Rec 709 colour space. I only adjusted the highlights and shadows.

@@stemandthorn Yup, shooting the Film Log Profile on the BMPCC and shooting in BRAW. Hey Adam. You just got a subscriber. Truly one of the best examples of Sigma's footage. Always felt it had flatter dimension than, say the Cookes or the Laica's (though I admit it is an unfair comparison). Your footage makes me want to take another look at the lens. Kudos

So many people when they are using bmpcc grade their footage heavily with film grains, unnecessary color contrasts to make it "CINEMATIC" which make the bmpcc looks like a junk camera, as Roger Deakins stated "I like clean image, there must be a reason before you move the camera, etc" though there is no narrative in this video, but it looks very CINEMATIC to me. Loved it very much.

Thank-you so much man. Very nice words to read. I like a clean image too and I don’t mess with the colours too much, if at all. Glad you liked the video :)
@thatsamuellu
Жыл бұрын
@@adambostock5416 For sure, man, to me, the phrase "CINEMATIC" suppose to refer to the lighting and depth of the image but not to the grain or heavy color grading stuff, I know that's just a personal preference but for what I loved the most from Denis Villeneuve's film "PRISONER" "SICARIOS" "ARRIVAL" "DUNE" all look very clean but tons of techniques in lighting and framing wise. I have no problems with fashion commercial films in terms of grainy and heavily color-graded footage. That's something in a different category.
@adambostock5416
Жыл бұрын
I totally agree man. I don’t mind a stylised look in certain context but as a personal preference I prefer a clean image with natural light or motivated lighting. Denis Villeneuve’s work is great.

@@adambostock5416 Dont´t be sad please! That comment itself tells the level of lack of knowledge about the Cinematic concept: CINEMATIC is of, relating to, suggestive of, or suitable for motion pictures or the filming of motion pictures. There a LOT of slow motion shots in movies, but is not the ONLY feature, there are a LOT of features, that when you put them together, get the final Cinematic look. And obviusly you got very good cinematics shots in your video. I own the BMPCC 6K G2 (the same of the 6K pro without internal nd filters), the same Lens Sigma 18-35mm and I can recognize the value of your job. Finally I can say the the BMPCC 6K, G2 and PRO are classified like a Cinema Camera and obviously can film Cinematic Shots. The name says it all: BMPCC (Black Magic Cinema Camera). Don´t page attention when you hear the voice of the foolishness! Keep walking! Stay strong! And Be successful with the help of God!
