Yes they are, due to covid and a heart operation I have suspended making any for awhile. I am in the process of selling the house and moving out to a country property for cleaner air to breathe. Once out there I will most likley get bored as I do and start making some more. Probably in 6 months all going well.

I noticed you use 7ml per 1876 grams. The directions say to use 1ml per pound, and you're doing 4.13 pound batches. So how did you stumble upon 7ml? I'm not trying to knock your process, if it works it works. Just curious, my friend. Great video and I love how fast you knocked these out. Well done!

I have a full size house convection oven and I bake at 400f for 11 min. And I cant get a full bonding with the wipe test. I have pin size bare spots of lead showing on the first coat. I do 125 ML acetone to 20 grams powder. Please help on this
@mikegremlin5249

Sounds like your casts are not clean, if you are blowing them off with a airline, make sure you have an oil trap in line. It is one of the most common causes of pinholes in the coating. A rinse and air dry in fresh acetone just prior to swirling may be of benefit to you. Mike

Sorry People, I have to restate that I am NOT selling the AS/3 , I only made this as a lark ,to see if I could. Its fairly easy to build but way,WAY to dangerous to make and sell. With a punch pressure in excess of 1.5 tonnes it really is not finger friendly. Sorry.

Great pneumatic sizer. I know you just did this for the hell of it but would you be willing to share the components required to construct my own? Cylinder and levers are no problem for me but the controls are outside my scope of knowledge. Any help much appreciated.
@mikegremlin5249
8 жыл бұрын
Controls are easy, you need a 12vdc powered valve unit, One that turns on with 12vdc, and turns off when voltage is removed. They are not expensive. Next you need a 12 relay, and 2 micro switches,. Set the circuit up into a self powering "Latch" mode that is broken when the lower switch is tripped, and re latched when the top switch is tripped. That's all there is too it!!.
@justanotherdude2653

Thanks. Figured out what you were talking about and now have my plan. Going to use 110v valve and relay so I can just use power straight out of the wall.

+planecrazy666 I had to sit down and have a cold drink.. I had to refill the Mags just over 4 times (both mags) to do the cast batch. I figure it has to be better than sizing one by one though!!. The casts were second coated and stored, I will final size them in the AS/2 unit by hand, it's really easy on the second size as it is .3585 just polishing the second coat to .3580 the exact size needed.

do you bake them afterwards or let them air dry under the sun
@mikegremlin5249
8 жыл бұрын
+ocean374 Air dry the coating around 1 hour then bake in lots of 300 for 11 mins. The baking sets the coating. Each batch is coated twice.
I am trying to use this high tech coating in the powder having some hard time with it flakeing on the smash test what do you think I am doing wrong
@mikegremlin5249
8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Ferreira if it flakes it hasent bonded correctly, the first coat need to be ultra thin. More of a stain than a actuall coat.

Wonderful! May I respectfully suggest a modification? I suggest putting an indent or some method to register each barrel of the carriage with feedback so when it's aligned, the operator gets some positive (tactile) feedback. It seems this would be particularly helpful for me if I were rotating the carriage underneath the bench. Thank you for your creations!

Russell Houghton Hi Russell, comes without the challenger press, its uses the cheap Lee "O" ring press. They are around $45 in the USA last time I looked.. The As/2 with all 3 Calibre slides and hardware, down to last nut bolt and washer is $250usd + freight to wherever you are. Send a email to me for more info or Join the Castboolits and gunloads website..
