Thanks! I've been looking into tattoo machines (built a DIY 'proof of concept' one just now). This video gives me a lot of answers about how the machine is actually supposed to work, what is adjustable, etc. Really; I've been looking for a video like this for ages... Clear and concise. Awesome

Of course it doesn't explain what stroke length you should have a shader machine set for or how to accomplish that. Running a shader needle on a machine set more for a liner can do just as much damage to the skin as a barbed needle will

Quit teaching scratchers how to scratch. If someone is learning they need to do it in a shop. Also. That WW machine is so fucking cringey..

Stuff like this shouldn’t be online for anyone to watch, and we wonder why there are so many scratchers. This industry is already so over saturated. I and many of my peers had to work our balls off for no pay to learn this from our masters.

Mmm I've been doing around 4.2 only because if I go any higher than it starts to spark.
@donniethomas6642

in general that is a good voltage to run a quality setup. If you can bump start the machine then I would recommend maybe trying to stretch the band a little before putting it on or trying to tune your machine a little different. A well tuned machine should be able to run at 4 volts flat up to 9 with out sparking. I hope that helps.

Great tutorial! I had the luck of having my needle's ring not really fitting the nipple.. The ring was a bit too small so it's always a struggle xd
