Looks beautiful, I'm hoping to take my boat out for her first winter cruise sometime this Christmas season in Howe sound. I'm nearly done installing a diesel heater that should keep two of the three cabins toasty warm.

thanks for posting this - I spent the early 80's heli-logging (Whonnock Industries - now Interfor) throughout Jervis Inlet, locations such as McCannel Lake, Patrick Point, Crabapple Creek, Hunaechin Creek and Osgoode Creek - I could pick out a couple of cut blocks, greened up with new forest. sweet guitar accompaniment. I would love to visit again 40 years later.

Jesus! Just watched your Princess Louisa video and now I find this. Same visceral feel as your Louisa video. Never been here in the winter. Beautiful! In the summer Prideaux Haven is like bath water, as I'm sure you know. Us kids loved it! No crowds in the mid 60's. Pure bliss. Thank you.

This is a very accurate example of what I saw many times in the mid 60's with my family. Thank you very much. I am curious why you didn't include rounding into the end bay instead of the closer 'arrived' cut to the falls. Only my curiosity. Otherwise I enjoyed this very much. Nice music as well. So many memories of traveling on the water as a kid.

Glad the video stirred some memories for you! I suspect I just didn’t have the footage from rounding into the end of the bay. My wife and I shoot these on our iPhones and as we’ve done a few, we’ve gotten more deliberate in the shots we get, but before that it was really just assembling a video from the clips we came home with. Thanks for the feedback!

I use a DJI Osmo 3 Gimbal with my iPhone 8 for some of the shots, but my wife also gets footage with a handheld iPhone. I’m merciless when it comes to cutting though, so we shoot lots and keep little. I edit most of the videos on my iPad with Adobe Rush. It’s free in its basic version and I prefer it to iMovie.

Could you include how you use your boat during these trips? You've obviously mastered cruising in cold weather, and that takes preparation and utilizing systems in a coherent manner. What provisions do you use, and how does the Ranger Tug facilitate your adventures?

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try to include more of that in the content going forward.

Would the inlet have been to rough to enter at ebb or flood tide?
@leftcoastcruising7080
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Quackula, the Malibu Rapids are pretty rough at any time aside from slack tide. They are very narrow, and have a sharp bend in the middle so pose a navigation challenge especially if the current is behind you. I’d say you have a little more leeway going against the current, but not much.
