I went old school, went into the attic with a two by four, bolted it across the beam over the light fixture then secured the light box to the two by four!

Something I can't find anywhere, is what do you do if it's a metal box? Does the EZ Brace work with metal boxes? Only solution I can think of is to drill pilot holes.

Best invention ever for fans. Bought a long drill bit just to make it easier to drill through the plastic housing. Screws are great and bite well. Use hammer drill to install screws. Very tight. Made a fairly complex job quite easy. Thanks a lot for the video and idea.

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. kzitem.infoUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

Will this work in a metal box? Are those long screws self tapping?
@robertleo9744

The long screws are wood screws, if you have a metal box you have to predrill the box first.

Robert, Thanks again for taking my call on an off day. It took me a while to modify my box to accept the brace, but once I'd modified it, the brace went in quickly and solidly. Even with the modification, a lot easier than installing a new box and worrying about the 70 year-old wire falling apart.

@@robertleo9744 Quick question. The fan I installed is an awesome little caged fan/light. It's still sometimes making a "ticktickticktickticktick" sound. But it sometimes doesn't make a sound after several hours running. I'm sure the bracket is solid. However, I forgot to install the small stabilization pin. Should I take it down, take it apart, reinstall it or just let it run for several hours to see if the "tickticktick" works itself out? I'm not sure if it's the screws in the fan, or the very slight swaying and rubbing of metal. Thoughts?
@robertleo9744
10 ай бұрын
When all the screws are tight there is absolutely no way there would be any kind of movement between the EZ-Brace101 and the fan bracket to be able to make any noise. I'm not sure when you say the stabilization pin if that's a pin that goes in for a down rod or what. Those also have set screws to hold them. Hopefully this was some help for you.@@jonbuckley7406

My brother you're an absolute genius. I do a lot of fan installs, and typically under these circumstances I swap out the box for a ceiling fan rated box. I just ordered four of these on Amazon. For the love of God thank you. I will be featuring this on my TikTok channel.

@@robertleo9744 I just found this. My light box is metal, but not for a fan. Can I predrill through the metal box in order to mount into the joist to use this bracket?
@robertleo9744
11 ай бұрын
@@rogueteach5197 If your metal box is attached to the joist you can predrill (you have too predrill through the box if metal). Because of the angle the hole might have to be big enough for the screw. only one out of over a three thousand sold has there been a screw break, it wasn't explained to us as to how it happened but I can only assume it was because of the metal box and the screw going in sideways. The screws we use are very strong and that shouldn't happen. The screws we use you can pick up at Home Depot they're spax screws. If your box is not attached to the joist and you don't want to change out your box you can use the EZ-Brace200 or EZ-Brace216. Thank you
@rogueteach5197
11 ай бұрын
@@robertleo9744 Yes. The box is attached to the joist by the side flanges that extend fore and aft of it. I read that specific review of the screw breaking and figured it was user error. I ordered the brace and will let you know how it goes. Thanks. (Getting into the attic above it is a real pain the ass. And, being just knowledgeable enough to turn off the breaker to that room, I really don't want to rewire a new box.)

Unfortunately the EZ brace 101 wouldn't work in my situation-ceiling light, no room for it in the plastic elec. box, there were 3 separate cables going into the elect. box, 2 on one side, other one feed through the other side of the plastic box and they all 3 feed through the center of the box not though the upper part of the box. There were like 12 or more wires in the box, so no room for the brace to fit up in the box without hitting one or both of the elec. cables wouldn't fit up flush. So couldn't put a ceiling fan in the center bedroom...

I've sent many new product inquiries to home depot, lowe's, grangers and numerous other stores and don't even get a response. I've registered through not only the stores but also product gateway. I've spent a couple years doing everything I can think of to get our products in a store. because of how crooked amazon is that is why it even cost so much to buy our brackets. Hopefully we'll be able to get it in the stores soon. Thank you for your comment.
