My first Sabbath record was Paranoid. I bought it at a very unlikely place. The Bon Marche. An upscale department store that was also the areas ticket outlet in my Seattle suburb (Federal Way) during the late 70s. I next found Master of Reality at a more typical location, Payless Drugstore which later evolved into Skaggs, but was previously called House Of Values. Also in Federal Way Washington. I don’t remember buying Sabbath Bloody Sabbath specifically, but I did buy Black Sabbath as a cut out for about half price in the Bon Marche clearance section, where i incidentally also score LZ’s Presence also as a cut out gem. 1978 or 79. I still have all these records, as well as later pressings where they weren’t damaged with notches cut by the labels when they eventually were realized to be hot commodities a decade later.

Zakks rendition of the first BS album is an absolute must listen. It’s done with great respect for the original songs arrangements with great little embellishments to accent but not try to one-up Tony’s playing. All the other band members stay true to the blueprint. When I finally got word that he was releasing the entirety of the second and third albums as well I pre ordered the 2 CD set. I’m very hopeful that he’ll be doing everything up to, but not beyond Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Some hardcore old school fans enjoy Tech and NSD, but I try to keep an open mind to no avail. As for the the Dio years, it’s not the same thing. But at least RJD years were good albums, for what they were. After that, total ballocks. Until 13 I skipped all the filler Tony was doing trying to keep the brand alive. Without Geezer it wasn’t the same. Zakk is the only one who can make these albums both the same as well as better.

Undeniable. I always ask myself if Led Zeppelin would have ever gotten as big as they were, if they hadn’t recorded bill ward drums in mono on that album. 🤯 -If that was album would have “flexed” on the stereo mixing more….. it would have had a bigger social impact a lot sooner. If you can even comprehend that. Y’know?! That album would have started on billboard’s top 10 instead of 17. Hard to fathom. But fun to entertain. lol 🤘😝🤘

Black Sabbath is the first and only book of Heavy metal, the genesis of the genre. Even today, Sabbath manages to be heavier than many metal bands today. The originality of Sabbath's sound broke boundaries. Black Sabbath remains the most important and emblematic heavy metal band in history.

I too back in about 1982 found an 8 track tape on the road. The label was all wrinkled from getting rain on it. It said Black something. After it dried out I put it in the player. Omg! I loved it immediately. Just thought it was a funny coincidence. Keep on rocking!

How is that? Unless you're somehow referring to a time before they became Black Sabbath? They only became Black Sabbath and played their first show as Sabbath just under 55 years ago.

Blasko is a f*cking asshole. During a show I was frontrow and he spitted at my direction and made gesture to get out of there, I was just standing there headbanging. Dude acted like a Diva.

Cool, I would go see that. I have seen Black Sabbath twice. I did see the original Black Sabbath on Lollapalooza show. I actually worked it on the main stage in Pittsburgh, well Burgestown PA just out side of Pittsburgh about 20 miles. I helped set their gear up. Zack was playing on the show also but not with Black Sabbath but with Black Label Society. I think that tour is what got got Zack with Ozzy. I was standing right by Zack. He came to the main stage stage to watch them set up. Their roadies were older than I am now and I was born in 58. I saw them prior that. I was also working as a tech and Dio was the lead vocalist on the Black and Blue tour with Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath trading headlining daily.
