Using local storage is a deal-breaker for me. I use many devices and syncing is not an option because when I stop using one device, I can't predict which device I will be using next. I wish there was a cloud option.

Wow, this finally helps me understand whats so great about Logseq. I know you established upfront that cloud solutions werent in the mix because of your work situation. If cloud solutions WERE in the mix would any be on par? The one problem for me with logseq is that theres no collaboration! Everything i do is team based and its nice to have shared notebooks for projects, but having logseq's approach to structure in those shared notebooks would be incredible!

Do you still find Logseq slower to handle ton of data or not ? I started my journey with Obsidian, just checked Logseq and didn't like some of it's features at the time and continued using Obsidian for a while . Then found Anytype and up until now i was using it but then i realized that exporting from anytype is literally a complete mess for now and every relation or set or collection i made inside the app , won't be useable in any other app , and i think it's like a walled garden or a locking ecosystem , that i won't be able to use if anytype changes their mind about something .

I was trying to do simple tables in Logseq and for that you have to create blocks with properties for each kind of value and a query to return the values in the shape of a table. It's so annoying! Why is it so difficult to do something so simple.

Thanks for this thoughtful video. I have been an Obsidian user for a while, but I dislike that it is closed source. Learning how Logseq is focused on outlining and is open source are two very compelling features for me.

I feel like if they can both do what the other does without much configuration at all really, then it just comes down to which is better, right? And to me it is clear that the one with more polish, features, pluggins and performance is Obsidian. The only, but very valid, reason I see to use Logseq is if you are a open source absolutist, which hey, fair.

But does it have a file folder system like one note or obsidian? I really want an app with a file folder system and open source which saves files that can be opened without the app. Like obsidian save it in .md

No app beats Zotero when it comes to capturing websites with snapshots and highlights (Zotero 7 beta); highlights in PDFs, all local with the Zotero Attanger plugin. You can copy the reference link in Zotero with the Zotero Actions and Tags plugin and paste it into Logseq. This is a much more solid solution. For this purpose, Logseq is just a stopgap.

Nice summary video! 👍👏 Yes, the sync remains the most painful part o experience. The "default" one costs as much or more than most cloud basic cloud plans. I use Koofr cloud sync app on my Linux machines and it worjks great, but he sync feature is missing in my Android Koofr app. AFAIK there aren't free & *safe" Google and One Drive sync options for Android. I'll still have to check DropBox.

Dear Alan. Thanks a lot for this great video. I am wondering how you may able to make double braket in a short way which state in video starting from 10:10 . Is it a Mac feature ? I could not able to find in not only in LogSeq document but also in the internet ? I am a windows user. Thanks again for this great video. I found your channel in order to learn how I may organise my notes in Kindle Scribe and transfer them to the Logseq . I will also watch the related video afterwards. I started to wathc this in advance as you are recommending to watch prior this video . :)

I use Obsidian to write and Logseq to think; Notion to archive. I love them all. A superior thing of Obsidian for me is the Vim Mode - even though I am not a developer. When I discovered Vim it was the most natural way of typing. Thats why I use Obsidian for writing text.

I had Obsidian for some time and struggled to even use it. It was just another note taking app with benefit of markdown. When I learned about LogSeq, I took off like a rocket from day one and it became among the most used and useful application I've ever used. With little bit of exaggeration I wonder, how could I had lived and work without it before 😊

I prefer that logseq is open source I prefer obsidian's style, If I could have obsidian open source, I would choose obsidian over logseq. I'm put off by logseq's default theme of solarized, I just don't like it.
