Ian Wright has to be one of the most genuine people in football. So relatable and likeable. Mr. Pigden helped set that in motion. Beautiful story.

It’s a bit to late for me to have someone like Mr. Pigdon impact my life… may god rest his soul. But I’d be honored if I could impact someone’s life such as Mr. Pigdon did for Mr. Wright. The way the world is today… these young children are being influenced by the wrong “idols”… and I could see how in todays age, kids think they know it all (bc of the internet and cellphones), but the world would be a lot better of a place if we had more Mr. Pigdons. I’ve heard this story time and time again. And I’ll keep listening to it every time it blesses my KZitem scroll. Brings a tear to my eyes hearing the absolute candidness and admiration in Mr. Wright’s voice.

Love wrighty, as an arsenal fan myself, but also love him as a human being. Sounds like he was struggling at school, and that he might have ADHD. Maybe it would be easier to spot in today's education and health systems, but people with ADHD need more stimulation. They find certain tasks (usually those that are lower stimulation like sitting, reading, etc.) much harder to stay focused on. So glad that this teacher spotted that Wrighty was a restless child in these situations and encouraged him to follow the things he was more interested in and stimulated by.

I listen to Desert Island Discs on a regular basis (I work outdoors so I find the theme tune to often be taunting me, given our weather in Greater Manchester). This and the one a few years ago with the fascinating Nile Rodgers are my two favourites thus far. The last one I thought was a full 5-star rating was with Madness' lead singer, Suggs.

I don't hear pain tbh. In Wrights emotion I hear his pure shock, amazement, love, and intense gratitude he felt for Pigden. An in his quote about Buckingham Palace, realizing that Pidgen loved him just as much as he loved him. Its almost as if he's saying it out loud for the first time. Amazing.
