@AdStellae-

Nah, he's guaranteed to win. He only has to hit his opening C&J to win. Also, after Li Fabin retires, Chen might stick around(?). And if Chen doesn't stay at 61 kg after this, then He Yueji has a higher total than both Morris and Massidda anyway.
@SomeSeriousWeight
4 күн бұрын
I agree he most likely will win (china's most secure men's medal), though if he misses his biggest snatch and clean and jerk and ends up in the high 300's and he could be beaten. Chen Lijun is also 31 and will be 35 by the 2028 Olympics . So he is probably gonna retire too wouldn't be surprised (it didn't stop Lu Xiaojun from going at age 37 though). He Yueji does have some internal competition I believe from Ding Hongjie. But I feel like Morris and Massidda could get better over the next quad. Hampton is still a junior.

Weightlifting will never gain that level of traction in the US when NBA and NFL exists. No reason for a person to dedicate decades of their lives to weightlifting when they can do it with the two aforementioned sports and make 100x the money and fame

@SomeSeriousWeight

Good question. Both have their tradeoffs non are perfect. Though in general most people use Sinclair since AFAIK it was developed first. Though the IWF has taken a liking to Robi using it as part of the qualification process for the 2020 Olympics.

A couple of things to note: Piron did make a total at the Panam Games last year it was only 181KG it didn't count to her qualification. Outside of those two events Afaik she has not competed since Tokyo. So my general point still stands. Also Chanu did compete at the Asian Games where she made a 191KG total. As for the comparison of old to new weightclasses the 105KG class can be compared to the 109 or 102 classes. I'm comparing it to the 102KG class. INB4 comments like "why did you use Cambei in your thumbnail instead of Hou?" You all know why so cough up the views.

Don Opeloge of Samoa is a 102KG lifter, currently ranked 10th. He did a 235KG as posted on Facebook by the Samoan Weightlifting Federation page (he also posted a side view on his insta) This Clean 3KG heavier than Gigachad's world Record 232KG clean and jerk and it's a hang clean. While Don has a pretty good clean and jerk his snatch isn't there he has never done more than 175KG in international competition.

Thanks Serious another useful vid. Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Tian have a minuscule chance of Paris if the Chinese federation deems Shi and Li Dayin injured in a timely manner because Tian Tao is top ten with Li removed from rankings. I think see it happening more than a snowballs chance in hell but?? Also spot on with the jail cell and IOC simultaneously mentioned. I agree with your estimates of records in this men’s classes-No Rahmat and Lasha maybe down a bit will put a slight damper on those categories.

You're right Tian Tao has a very small chance of competing if all the stars align, though I wouldn't put my money on it. It's sad because IMO he is the only person in the 89's who can clean and jerk close to Karlos Nasar.
