The perfect safety record of Ka came to an end in June, 2013 when a female acrobat had her harness disconnect from her guide wire during the Battle Wall scene. She fell 90 feet to her death, fortunately the impact was not in view of the audience.

Montgomery Mall Since that accident they don't even perform the battle at the end. Its a video projected onto the upright stage now. Its sad that they do it that way now, but at the same time I understand why they do it like that.

The battle is back in the show since late 2015 now but is performed with less people and the harnesses appear to be different as well.

Unfortunately I was at that show. Most of the audience thought it was part of the show until you heard the screaming. We got a refund, and we went back last year to find the scene back in the show. We're going again in June.

You can actually see an airbag further out in the theater in one shot in the video. And this video is just a demonstration- he has Cirque performers keeping an eye on him all the way up the wall and they don't have the pit open (the stage completely drops out from under the vertical stage in-show). Cirque, for 30 years, has operated with 0 fatalities due to onstage accidents. You really think that they're so lax about safety and have just...what- lucked into everyone being okay until recently?

During the show, and practices, they do have nets. More than that, they have airbags on top of the nets, each of which has a number of individual sections that allow them to cushion the blows when actors fall (because they *intentionally* drop off various sides of the stage at a number of points during the show). Not to mention multiple failsafes on the wires. What you see in this video is not show conditions and it's virtually impossible for an accident to happen, let alone a death.

They use the net for falls under 20 feets, and they place airbags on top of the net for falls over 20 feet.

That's ridiculous that there wasn't even a net. No wonder one of the athletes fell to her death.

There was a net, but they put the airbags over the net for falls over 20 feet. Unfortunately I was at the show that the artist fell to her death.

My friend used to be one of the "forest people," the people who scale the wall up and down. She enjoyed every minute of it. She left the show shortly after the accident a few years ago

Very cool! It reminds of after a dance performance when the conductor goes up to stand and bow with the dancers, and then you realize how graceful the dancers are compared to a normal person. Thanks for the video!
