I've been going to the movie theater almost every week since 2021. I'm trying to break into film myself so I get it

It's crazy to think that seeing a movie by yourself was weird at one point, but it's how I watch like half of movies in theatres now. If I can get a Tuesday afternoon off, then I love just chilling out in a huge theatre with like 4 other people scattered around lol.

I like going to the theater for the same reason, but lately people have the worst manners in theaters. I don't mind people reacting to the movie, but openly talking and even using their cell phones is now common. I need to move to a place with a theater where guests respect the theater experience

Ok. There is a difference in styles. In theater acting the audience is watching from a distance so all movment and facial expressions need to be exaggerated. Plus they must project out with their voices-aka speak louder. In film acting since the camera is much closer these movements can be more reserved. Hence the phrase: Pushing 'it' out or Pulling 'it' back. 'It' being the intenisty of the performance. If you want to see an example watch William Shatner on the old Star Trek Tv show. He was a classically trained 'theatre' actor and on the small Tv screen people think he's 'over acting' with his movements and dialog but this is just the way he learned to act and every so often forgot to 'pull it back'. 😊

Exactly! We have to make big facial expressions on stage so you can see them, while on tv the camera can zoom in!

Very cool lol I'll have to reconsider if I get park greeting. Would be interested in the horror stories haha. But it's weird bc I would have thought that LA is more expensive I've wanted to visit for a while too
