I thought it was because Herbie cut Miles' solo short?.

MD was angry at the world, and he had legitimate reasons. But many other black performers and athletes were able to move on, with dignity and class. Watch any interview with Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron. or Duke Ellington.

I loves me some Miles Davis and all, but Herbie Hancock would have beat that tiny heroine junkie's ass every day that ends in "y" and twice on Sundays, and with his own trumpet too, Birth of the Cool or not! 😂😎

After Herbie throws that phrase in and apparently interrupts Miles' improvisation, I love the way Tony Williams looks slowly in Miles Direction with sort of an uh-oh look on his face... that's said it all right there! Yes, these guys went through some Growing Pains on stage while improvising... a whole lot of eagles to fill one stage, but what a magnificent group they were! I prefer the 1959 lineup with Coltrane and Cobb but that was not destined to last forever, but to me that was the peak of it all. The 1960 concert in Paris posted on KZitem at least the audio portion had some of the greatest moments in jazz history... the only downer from the whole thing for me was the way they sped up "so what".... to me, that number was meant to be slow and hypnotic so when they sped it up it just felt totally wrong and had no feeling to it at all.
