I can't get this out of my head that there is people walking around with a little bit of John inside of every one of us who can't explain or express our selves the way John does here with all the pain but also a special type of pleasure from the pain only art like John's can make you feel understood Danny a master of what he does in his own right such a lucky man to have been so close to what I see as a master crafts man ,men ....Bless The Weather in so many ways the ephitomy of acoustics I oze creativity under the school what John Danny and Nick Drake gave us majestically .

Had a fight with John Martyn in '92. Didn't stop me loving his music and talent. Heavily influenced my songwriting. Have a listen.

Just a mention here of the totally amazing John Martyn Project. Not a tribute band but all superb musicians from the next generation who together breathe new life into this music. Their (unamplified) acoustic version of Over The Hill performed live was a real spine tingling moment. Go see them if you can.

What makes this performance even more impressive is that I believe he only picked up the guitar about 6 years or so earlier.

@@deviprasadpoudel7518 just checked it out… no, it’s as basic bitch as everyone else. Stripped down, way simplified music. People need to get over the voice. It’s one instrument among a myriad and it’s the least interesting one… except for the recorder.

We were spoiled in the early 70s- Nick Drake, Roy Harper, John Martyn, Fairport, Sandy Denny, Paul Brady and many more- what a wealth of treasure! Musically, it was a great time to be young in the UK.
