It is interesting how they 'mostly' stay in one lane rather than taking up the entire street. Looks like they are learning to co-exist with humans.

I grew up there. I just don't understand why they don't take Elkhorn Avenue, it's much wider. And that's where all the annual (rodeo and commercial) parades took place in my childhood.

That was absolutely beautiful. Where are they going? And, what is a rut? Thank you for this ❤
@mtnman6557

This is in the fall during the rut. They congregate in the 100's on the Estes (s-tess, not, s-tease) Park golf course to munch on the green grass, take in the sun & feel safe in their #'s. There are a # of herds down there at the same time, but usually the harem bulls let the other bulls know where the lines are, so to speak. One year, they literally did just that! While taking notes, I saw 2 big bulls line up at the far side of the course lawn/fairway & run across, each w/ a tip of their antlers scoring a line in the dirt all the way across to the other side. I was in Estes Park on the way to the RMNP entrance a # of times each fall, but I had never seen that happen before.

I vacationed at Estes Park for a week a few years back, and I saw this same scene every day at 4:30 sharp The herd of about 70 was headed to the golf course in back of the motel I was at. The golfers had to stop and hope the elk would move on quickly but that didn't happen. What did happen was they all started laying down and grazing. Golfers took a mulligan 🤣

so sweet to read all the love comments while i have to keep my dog from eating elk poop every morning because they go wherever they walk and they stepped on it too. They are very aggressive lots of idiots like to get close to these animals so they get chased down, i hear lots of stupid truckers said and believed there are plenty of elks they can just hit them on the road, there are more trucks in the mountains than elks, DO NOT RUN THEM OVER. USED YOUR AIR HORN YOU FAT TRUCKERS open your eyes on OUR ROADS. Go to the zoo and sanctuaries to see animals leave them alone in Colorado or you will get them kill for attacking your stupid ass
