The best explanation by far...I mean, I needed an animation so I could see the movement and this video shows it at its entirety

I want to make a custom OTF but I'm such a dumbazz that after watching like 20 videos on how tis thing works, only now I understood. Thanks, this gives me an idea on how to construct the mechanism.

So, is the blade attached to anything, or is it just the knobs that keep it in place? On a similar note, does the blade move by being launched from the force of the spring, or is it attached to something that moves it? Many thanks for whoever can answer.

So basically the spring tension (and allowing the "spring back") in either direction is what moves the blade. Thanks, this helped me understand. It also helps that the spring is not under constant tension when the blade is deployed, which should help with spring life

They double up the springs to save space, as I understand. Instead of having a single larger diameter tension spring, they have two smaller ones side by side. This makes for an easier package to fit between the handle scales.

it's just a strong spring, and moving the blade when the locks are disengaged is not that hard - think of pushing a metal ruler over a wooden table

The spring`s tension must dictate the blade length and thickness of the body, If the compression released does not have enough power it won`t make it down the body and catch on the blade catches

Are there grooves for the blade catches? Because when the sloder is pulled one way, how would the blade catch not catch the blade as it propelled forward or back?
