I think 8 wins for senna 92,93 is a fair achievement by senna considering 92,93 Williams was driven by a computer and had 100 extra horsepower, It would've been really interesting to see him beside Prost at Williams, I believe He would've gave him a real hiding considering what he achieved in a underpowered less sophisticated McLaren 93 Prost outqualified him 15-1 93 but only won 7 compared to senna's 5. I think 93 senna was at his finest. 94 Also I realise he crashed out all 3 races. But Brazil after Schumacher pulled away for a 10 second lead, senna began pulling him in and pulled it back to 5 seconds, Damon hill couldn't keep up with either of them. unfortunately, he lost control and stalled the engine,2nd race he was taken out by hakkenin. Imola lap 6 the lap before he died he set a very fast time. A time that was only beaten Much later in the race by Schumacher and Damon hill on light fuel loads and hot Tyre's. I think if he had lived he most probably would've won the championships 94,95,96,97 I don't think he would've liked winning 94 with Schumacher's disqualifications though I think he would've wanted to win 94 fair and square with Schumacher on track. Damon was only capable of catching Michael while he was sidelined, Even once the b spec Williams arrived, I added the points up and Michael still dominated hill on track. Schumacher was a speed machine Just as Williams was bad handling to begin with benneton was bad handling all season in fact multiple seasons 94,95,96,97 b spec cars never came to benneton. Schumacher was special software at benneton - then 96 long before benneton staff Arrived he was special software at Ferrari and instantly beat benneton and was fighting with Williams. Whilst his teammate was struggling to hold off Jordans in the Ferrari f310.

1992 & 1993 Williams was 1.5 second per lap faster than the whole grid even surpassing this year’s RedBull dominance. He won 5 races vs Prost’s 7 was unbelievable. If we had 3 or 4 more races with rain 🌧️ he could have won the championship. I respect Clark,Schumacher,Hamilton,Verstappen and Alonso but no comparison to Senna’s speed , charisma and devotion to the sport .

@@ahmetsezer2076 I think on average 1.6 but wasn't unusual 2 -3 seconds. Was a monster of a car. I think if Senna had the same Renault powered V10 in the McLaren and although McLaren was Less sophisticated. I think senna was the X factor 7 wins for Prost 5 wins for senna 93 Clearly proves senna was the strongest of the two

Senna wanted to make the car lose grip in order to: 1) Slide the car just a bit so that he could change direction with a better angle during a curve and... 2) Change gears and hit the thrust at any point of a curve in order to be able to increase the grip and speed. (This was the main reason) You see, if you lose grip and gain grip: it's like a basketball being thrown to the ground. Just like a basketball player makes short bounces (while running towards the Rim), so that in the last minute he can increase the bounce and lift the ball higher, in order to make a slam dunk. *The car is not only sliding... the car is literrally bouncing! On a curve!* Watch this short video to understand the physics behind the concept: kzitem.info/news/bejne/o2mEyISLjXZmpHY The snake increases the grip by alternating the ground contact (which only two parts of the snake are actually touching simultaneously the ground). Senna was actually increasing the grip by making the car lose and gain grip *over and over again.* When Senna wanted maximum speed, he would stop the alternation and hit full Throttle. The car literaly kicked the floor underneath it. Gravity plus hiting the thrust would thrust the car foward just like a rocket uses thrust to hit the ground in order to take off. In my opinion Senna truly is the GOAT. .

formula one should go back to this level of technology, todays drivers have so much less work to do and that's why races are boring, not much skill it's needed anymore. FIA should remove as much tech as possible, driving a F1 car should be difficult and hard that's why only the best drivers should be able to drive them. nowadays even the last in the grid with the best car can win easily

Berger once said when he joined the McLaren Team he wanted to compete and win the championship title. So he went on to testing during the whole winter while Senna was on vacation in Brazil. Senna joined him a few weeks before the first race testing the car on the track and after getting the seating position right within a few laps Senna has already beaten his best time he worked on for months. Berger said it was that moment he knew he will never be able to win the title.

Wow!!! This was a technique I used all my life, quietly, in Gran Turismo...more than 20 years of playing. Had no idea this was a skill of the one and only Senna. When I was a kid, I just thought I was hacking the game because it made me faster than everyone else. My mind is blown after watching this knowing I had something in common with a legend lol, because I completely understand what he was doing, keeping the car at the brink of losing control in order to have maximum exit speed. Late braking and blipping through the turns was my cheat code in a game, this man did it in real life. Amazing.

I wonder if the reason Senna worked the throttle was that the engine exhaust was bled through the floor diffusers? In other words, the engine exhaust gasses might have been involved in generating downforce (either by acting on the underfloor diffusers or in helping direct air to the aft wing). Or perhaps he was using engine torque changes to rock the car left to right about the car's longitudinal axis? Or maybe the car was just setup wrong and had understeer??

Set the car up for large oversteer then the driver changes the "force vector" by acceleration to reduce/change the centrifugal force into forward force i.e. the car accelerates without the rear sliding out . talk to a mechanical engineer to understand this.

Why is everybody up in arms about this? Everyone knows the technique. That's why you set up a single seater to be neutral to slight understeering for fast corners. Even in his conversation with his engineer David Brown in the 2010 movie "Senna", Ayrton says "When it's supposed to break away it breaks away even more" about the FW16. Hell in primitive racing games (F1GP, F1GP2, GT, etc.) the way to lap fast was to cause the car to steer-in using oversteer. This is a well known technique. Senna did it however, to initially maintain the turbo at high RPM and reduce lag (84-88), and secondly to keep the car on the limit of level of grip (his whole career). Senna was perhaps not the best on his tyres for that reason. You guys should read Senna's book (Principles of Race driving), admittedly co authored, but still it gives insight into his style. Much more innovative than this throttle technique described in this video was his delayed apex slow corner technique.
