I love this kind of podcast! Having both English and Japanese subtitles definitely makes it easier to study and pick up the language.

At 4:32 it says 「名前はまだない」and the subs say "no name yet to me attached" but it's more natural to say "I don't have a name yet". Hope this helps! :)

Could someone please explain the grammar in this sentence? いや、そっちもロン毛っていうのがまたいいね。it's the ロン毛っていうのが that I'm struggling to understand.

Hey there, I noticed some errors in the sentences, i'm only two minutes in but if I find more ill point them out. at 2:21 there's a spelling error with "Right" and 2:25 the romaji for the 「は」particle is wrong, hope this helps. (Also please could you guys replace the romaji with kana instead? I've seen a lot of people comment this and it would be so much more helpful to practice reading in only japanese)

I'm loving these podcasts. Your chemistry with each guest is always very entertaining. I'd like to also request that the romanji is removed from future videos. I think it is more distracting than helpful when trying to read the japanese subtitles. Looking forward to the next episode 楽しみです

I love this video, the casual and simple phrases are helpful to follow along to. If I could make one suggestion: I believe that the Japanese subtitles would be more effective as a learning tool if you used furigana for the kanji, and possibly removed the romaji. I feel like the romaji only distracts the eye and brings you out of the "mode" of reading kana. I only intentionally look at it when I don't know the kanji pronunciation, and then my mind wants to keep reading the roman characters rather than switching back to the kana because that's what I'm used to as an English speaker. To achieve better focus and immersion, I believe using furigana without romaji would be best, but at the very least, include the furigana so one doesn't have to switch between kana/roman reading to understand the kanji.

@@LJPLearningJapanesePodca-vi1gz I understand after reading other comments on previous videos that some people actually want you to keep the romaji. I'm sure you'd like to serve viewers that like the romaji, as well as those who see it as a distraction. I believe the best way to do that would be to *move the romaji to the TOP, underneath the English captions.* This puts the roman characters together, removing any potential for cross-script distractions while reading (which makes the otherwise excellent video practically unwatchable). At the same time, this change makes room for furigana on the bottom! Two birds one stone. Another comment suggested putting the romaji in the toggleable KZitem captions. This would be MY choice because I'd prefer to be able to hide the romaji altogether, though for the the romaji enjoyers, it could potentially interfere with the other captions and the general visual design of the video (very pleasing). --- P.S. For all you romaji enjoyers who want to understand the perspective of us haters (i.e. the downsides of romaji). --- When learning a language with non-latin script, romanization will often mislead you regarding pronunciation, and it can build bad habits by transferring speaking patterns from your native (romantic) language into this new language where they are not appropriate. By learning to read romaji, you're effectively superimposing English ON TOP OF Japanese, giving you an incomplete/inaccurate understanding of the language. For casually engaging with Japanese (sounding out/looking up words, songs, etc...), romaji is a super useful tool! But if you're attempting to actually _learn_ Japanese, even as a beginner, it's advisable to avoid romaji altogether. Learning to read kana is less difficult than you might think, it's very straightforward, and honestly LESS confusing than reading romaji. Once you get the kana down (which won't take you long), your ability to continue learning and engaging with the language will be increased significantly. Romaji will only hold you back, and once you get past it, it becomes entirely useless, so it's really worth it to just do the work of learning kana upfront. You can do it! Now Kanji... that's a bit trickier to learn, and that's what furigana is for! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furigana
