The attention to detail here also extends to the "Lewis Sings Dylan" album cover, which riffs on Bob Dylan's self-titled first album - the coat, the cap, typography layout.

Some of those songs listed were not even released commercially yet, which mean Martin (or somebody he knew) had the Dylan bootlegs.

At the time that this was filmed (early 1984), Martin Short was 33 years old (born March 26, 1950). I can't give an exact date for the filming, but the episode was released on February 14, 1984, so it was probably filmed shortly before that date. Yes, he is a comedy genius 😂

For context, this album costs $6.99 and Short was working SCTV IN 1982-1983. In 2023, that would be around $22.00 per album. So, not as cheap as it sounds today. But that's why kids today own a lot more albums on CDs or MP3 than their grandparents did when they were in their teens. Kids in the 1960s bought a lot of 45 RPM Singles, usually at less than a buck each. Prices didn't rise very fast back then, so I remember paying $5 -$6 for monophonic rock albums in the mid 1960s. Most stores around me only had Stereo albums in classical music, with most rock being in mono. When I bought the Beatles' (Stereo) White Album, it costs $10, which in 2023 would be around $83.00 for a double album set. However, it was one of the original numbered and stamped albums that I bought in a collector's shop.
