The bowline is an excellent knot used often in boating. It's best attribute is that it can be easily untied even after subjected to a heavy load. For your application there are much better options. Thanks for posting the video!

If you’re doing a video of tying a knot, you need to zoom in so people can see what you are doing.

Thank you for showing us how to restring an extension ladder! You might want to try “Ladder Mover” for the easiest way to move any size and type of ladder. Thanks for posting!

I think that your video answered some of my questions. But I still have a question for you. When replacing the ladders rope....why don't you completely extend the ladder COMPLETELY. I had been led to believe that full extension was a MUST in order to ensure that the replacement rope was long enough.

I believe the rope is stretched to it's longest length when the ladder is closed to its shortest length.

@@MoBlogs I honestly don’t remember but I didn’t need to return the stove. I think I had the opposite problem, the stove was in US standard and the fitting they sent with it was the European version.

@@TarikCA I’m having the same problem right now. Purchase a 24 inch natural gas oven and when i bought in Home Depot the flexible line it doesn’t fit. Tried 1/2 in, 3/4 in 5/8 inch and 3/8 nothing seems to fit. Almost like the fitting coming out of the oven is Europe.

This is not how to do it. The knot used is fine but ALLAYS tie the 2nd knot to the same rung as the first one. That way the the rope will neatly follow up as you raise the ladder. No floppy rope to have around. Always use static line if not using original ladder rope.

exactly. I was waiting for the final test but intentionally he didn't show the lower part of the ladder and how much of the rope is ending on the ground by pulling up the extension. Its a safety hazard btw.

Excellent video. I was wondering how I extend a long ladder! Those catches that lock the ladder in position and allow you to raise and lower the ladder, what are they called, and where can I buy them? We don't seem to have anything like that in the UK.

Nice bowline but I find it safer to tie both knots onto the bottom rung of the "fly" aka operable section.

UPDATE:What I have found is that this rope is shrinking even thou ladder is in a garage! It has shrank at least one inch. So the extending part of ladder doesn't fully slide down & it doesn't "lock" back in position (it is hanging on a rope bit). No big deal for me as I have it laying down for storage but it might be problem for those who stand the ladder against the wall. Great news is that it doesn't affect functioning of ladder in any way.
