Hello and welcome to my FlossTube channel! This channel will primarily be about cross stitch but may include other crafty endeavors. Thanks for stopping by!
Your changes to the design “Consider the Lilies” is absolutely beautiful. You are an amazing stitcher and designer in your own right. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and love your flosstube and look forward to seeing more from you.

Growing up, my mother did all things crafty: sewing, knitting, macrame, painting. And my grandmother was always sewing, painting her house, growing beautiful flowers, and she could wallpaper like no other! I feel very inspired growing up with them and in my life I've been a professional photographer, and now I keep bees, I'm growing a garden, learning to sew and crochet, and love cross stitching! I have one other KZitemr that you should check out: The Last Homely House. I don't sew quilts but she is wonderful and located in the north of England.

Thank you for the shop tour. Oh my, what a gorgeous store. I love visiting Weston, it's one of my favorite spots. I am going to plan a trip there soon. I am amazed that you are stitching on 56 count linen! Your red sampler is sure to be a masterpiece. Just a bit about myself. I come from a long line of creative people.on my mother's side. My great grandmother was a quilt maker, she did a lot of filet crochet and embroidery. My grandmother did garment making, quilts, embroidery and made beautiful ceramic and porcelain projects. My aunt was an a published folk artist, garment maker and floral arranger and other crafts. My mother was also an artist. My home has several of her paintings in it. She made clothing, quilted items and many other sewing projects. Her Christmas tree s were works of art. She taught me to embroder when I was quite young. My dad was an inventor and woodpecker. I feel so privileged to have come from such talented and gifted family. I am loving the meditation s at the end of your video's. Take care and happy stitching.

When I stitch over 1 I tend to only do a tent stitch - which is if don’t know is only 1/2 of a full cross stitch. This prevents the bunchy or thick look of the stitches.

Anything is possible. She was 13 when she made the sampler. Another viewer suggested she may have been in a convent school at the time. I wish we could find out for certain. Until then we can continue to guess. 🙂

It's been a real pleasure spending time with you, Jackie. I'm so enjoying your flosstubes. Thank you for the store tour. What an incredible place. I checked out their website and was surprised to see several colour conversions of Maggie Lane's needlepoint dragon pattern. I started it years ago in cocoa tones and never finished it. So now I know of a store that carries yarns for it for if/when I get back to it. I may, as Maggie Lane had some wonderful patterns in her books and I wouldn't mind doing more. So that was a treat, and a real surprise. Take care, and happy stitching.

I LOVE your bison picture! Custer, SD is one of our favorite places (we live in Colorado) so I can relate to hearing him crunch grass (and probably make deep huffing noises 😂). We have had that type of lighting almost every afternoon this week with afternoon storms. Love it! I have heard when you make your professional living with creativity, you loose joy doing it in your personal life. So glad you regrouped and brought the joy back! ❤ Another fabulous inspiring and thought provoking video. Thank you Jackie!

Oh my goodness!!! Your opening commentary - you speak to my heart and my soul. I am the keeper of the family quilts - 4 generations back. Hopefully the 2 generations ahead of me will sometime grasp the concept of feeling the energy of those that touched these fibers of cloth before. When I quilt - especially - I feel those women and can sense them looking down on me. I feel that way with embroidery also, but cross stitch is my own thing ... as of now. Thank you SO much for your floss tubes - your quiet and calming nature, and your comments about learning from the past. Don't change, don't stop.

Hello Jackie, it’s good to see you again. I’ve enjoyed every part of your visit. I, too, love Frida. I believe the actress who played her in the film you referred to may have been Salma Hayek, but it’s been awhile. One of my favorite quotes of hers is ‘Feet what do I need you for when I have wings to fly.’ I have a Barbra Ana chart called Viva la Vida. I’m thinking of stitching it on a terra cotta or rust fabric and including that quote… Thank you for all your inspiration, and for all you do to make our hearts and hands happy.

Yes, it was Selma Hayek who played Frida! I could see her in my mind but just couldn’t pull her name out of my brain. I really like Barbara Anna’s Friday charts. Ive looked at them a lot, just don’t have them yet. 😊 Thanks for sharing the quote, it’s a good one for sure!

Hi, Jackie, I have enjoyed watching your 3 videos. I'm a HK...Hallmark Kid 😂 My parents opened a Hallmark store in a little town called Central, north of Baton Rouge, LA in 1981. It was such a fun store, but a lot of work. I have saved a few of the Mary Engelbreit paper doll sheets; it's so fun to "meet" the artist behind them, along with your pups. I am stitching Consider the Lilies...your version of the pattern is gorgeous and so inspiring. Wow! what a store you have around the corner from you. Florilegium is full of so many beautiful threads and textures. What a treasure trove of creative inspiration. Bridget Powers is gorgeous, as well your red sampler. I have been sprinkled with Jean Lee's pixie dust from afar 😆 ...I have some 56 count I purchased from The Attic with some read Tudor silk for a stitching piece to put in a Tim Holtz locket. Thank you for sharing your journey. Take care and Happy Stitching! 🧵

Thank you for another lovely video. ❤️ I’ve enjoyed each one, immensely. And truthfully? Your paper dolls in the ME magazine were my favorites. I’m also attracted by Catholic symbolism, but I was raised Catholic. Attended a Catholic University and loved it. Like yourself, I am interested in convents ( been watching Billy, Yannis, et al now for almost two years), nuns, etc. Hildegard von Bingen. I was immersed for awhile, in the laces produced by the French nuns. You are working on a beautiful French alphabet, which I hope to start soon. Your tour of the Florigeum was amazing! The shop reminds me of a scene from Gigi where they are in a French salon. Beautiful. Love your guided meditations. My advisor/priest swears by it to relieve stress. ❤️

@ComfortStitchingJackie
7 күн бұрын
Wonderful! You can do it! Linen is a little more challenging because you have to count the threads until you get used to looking at it. Then it’s second nature. 14 count Aida is like 28 count linen, 16 count Aida would be like 32 count linen, and so on.

Linnie are ypu trying to cast a spell over us!? I'm just sure you've shared that pilot and seeing eye dog story before! Now i've gotta go back and look at your last video again. 😂 Roberta, I went to see my grandgirls for the 4th of July weekend and i had a great drive there and back and tons of fun while with them, my daughter, and son in law. He spoiled us girls really good with a long 2 hour personal fireworks show! We still miss our little Willow Dear but her tree is growing really nice next to their lovely garden full of various tomatoes and lots of other goodies and flowers too. I'm so proud of my sweet little Michigan Clan! They have worked so hard through their grief and their little home is just a mini paradise. Many endless Thanks to you ladies and every one else who has sent even one pray or good wish their way. 🎉💗

Another amazing video. Bridget is absolutely beautiful. I love doing monochrome projects on 56 count. My sweet spot is 46 count. My Mom was born in Scotland and then they moved to the Northants in England. When we were growing up we used to “have” to go each year to England. We went the end of February to the end of March. My Mom’s whole family was in England except one sister. We had a blast every year. Now I wish I “had” to go again. Going to try Yorkshire Gold tea, we are Typhoo tea drinkers here, a very strong black tea. Birschall tea is a lovely tea especially the English Breakfast one. I just saw a finish on the Lessons in Abecedarian and it was beautiful. Cordelia is pretty. I’m a Puffin lover as well, I wanted to go up to Maine last year where they were but it didn’t work out. Thank you for the KZitem recommendations, always looking for something different to watch. The shop below you is wonderful and to start dying linen! Another great ending, thank you

Regarding Bridgette Powers. I come from a Catholic country , Malta and in the late 19th century up until well after WWII, confirmation was done at very ealy ages as young as 6 years. Dont know about earlier years and of course dont know about Irish.... but it is a much more recent customary to do confirmation at ages 11 to 13
@ComfortStitchingJackie

Thanks for your input on Bridget. In the research I did on Irish Catholicism in the 1800’s I read that first communion was done at a younger age (8-9) than Confirmation (12-13). It’s all very interesting!
