Hi @onezerocoffee we have always used the original La Marzocco part number F.1.033 which is listed as PTFE WASHER D13mm.

Hi @raytores6773. Is it a Linea Classic or Linea PB? Steam Boiler (SB) & Brew Boiler (BB) are independent so it seems you have some problem with the BB circuit. The electronics in the Classic are very different to the PB so too is fault finding. I would start by checking safety thermostats which can be easily reset (find them on the BB for a PB or group cap for Classic). From there I'd be checking voltage across the BB SSR for a PB or the Contactor or PID (if fitted) for a Classic. Then moving on to checking impedance through the element or possibly board issues. Good luck.

Hello! Thank you for the amazing video. Have you tried fixing the restrictor of mavam?
@marvellstreet

Hi @raymondlao5821 Thank you. We really just use La Marzocco & Slayer machines - we haven't used Mavam & so haven't replaced a restrictor in on.

Hi, Could you tell me what would happen if the restrictors were removed completely and left out of the La Marzocco 3 group Linea PB, and you continued to use the machine ? Would it have an affect on the coffee being produced ?
@marvellstreet
Жыл бұрын
Hi @PaulWilliams_2323 removing the restrictor altogther would drastically alter the flow rate. While we are constantly learning more about extraction, flow rate is (at least anecdotally) strongly connected to extraction. You will still be able to brew coffee but it seems very unlikely you would get well extracted espresso.

How often do you recommend this be done?
@marvellstreet
Жыл бұрын
Short answer - minimum frequency we would suggest is weekly.... Long answer - There's several factors at play here James. How dark (& oily) your coffee is, volume of coffee ground & end of day cleaning being the most critical. If you have dark oily coffee you will need to do this more regularly. If you are very busy 50+kg per week more frequent would be a good idea. If you are grinding out all grinds from blades at the end of day your cleaning frequency can be reduced.

Hi guys, great video! What is the cause of water dripping through the group head and leaking through the shower cap? It wouldnt be the restrictor would it? I thought maybe the flow meter is still spinning and causing the leak?
@marvellstreet
2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean water is leaking during the process of replacing the restrictor? This is fairly normal especially if the machine is hot, there will typically be some residual pressure forcing water out when the solenoid is removed. The flow meter is a passive component, meaning it only spins when water flows through it & won't cause a leak. If you have lot's of water continuing to flow you likely have a faulty valve (tap) at the water supply pre pump. If you mean you have a leak literally coming out of the shower screen when the solenoid is in place, you likely have an obstruction in the solenoid valve preventing it from closing & the solenoid should be serviced/replaced.

This could be a number of things. Check 1. that all cables from Uni board are firmly connected at each end, especially those between uni board & PB board & display 2. The uni board may have failed. 3. The cable may have been damaged

Is it the same for gb5?
@marvellstreet
3 жыл бұрын
GB5 is not a machine we use so we have no direct experience. As we understand the GB5 has a few different variants for the group cap. The EE & AV group caps should be the same. In general the La Marzocco group caps which include the flow meter body as part of the group cap will be the same a we've shown.

Hey thank you very much for the video and currently I got a LM Linea PB with 2 group-heads, now im facing quite a some problem, I still got the machine brewing perfectly, my first group-head stucks suddenly earlier this week, very badly, the second goroup-head is perfect! These two days, it got worse, it got very few drops of water coming down, I guess that might caused by the clog in the group head, can I follow the suggestion you show to solve the problem? By removing the small part in the third hole, and what can I do? Since the water pipe underneath must be quite thin, can I using a thread of the break line from a bike to insert into it, in and out the remove the clog? Is that possible? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The restrictor is made out of Ruby Stone so be careful. We use a 5.5mm drill or welding tip cleaner to clean the restrictor. You should bleed the air out as per the video as any trapped air will cause the restrictor to block, usually it will happen on the same head constantly due to the machine not ever being exactly level and the air being trapped on the higher side. Also make sure your water filtration is suited to the quality of your water, if your water is hard then you'll either need to soften or ironise, hard water is the most common cause of blocked restrictors.

Appreciate the great video. Newbie question - when you bleed out the air do you release the nut from the three group heads at the same time and then tighten them. Or do one by one? Thanks
@marvellstreet
5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, glad it can help you. Generally we would bleed them all gently at the same time & for some time to ensure all air is out. Before the final tightening of each bleed bolt we would open one bolt at a time up quite a bit to fully flush then tighten. Progressing from G1 to G2 & G3. The only other consideration is to replace the copper gasket (with water off) for each bolt as this will make a good seal easier to obtain.

Hi thank you for the great video ! How do we know when its time to change the flow restrictor ? Is it affect the espresso taste if this thing is stripped / worned out ? Thank you & keep posting great videos
@marvellstreet
5 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the video - thanks. Restrictors don't tend to wear out they tend to block due to minerals (calcium & chlorides) in the water supply building up inside the restrictor opening. You may need to change the flow restrictor if the machines flow rate becomes inconsistent or more likely you can't achieve the flow rate you desire. We monitor flow rate closely & recommend all cafes check it on a daily basis using 30sec of free flow from each group & weighing the yield. Flow rate will have a big impact on espresso flavour.
