Thanks for filming this overview, I clicked on the vid as I was intrigued by the truck (never heard of the brand). This is such a neat old school approach to a vehicle that’s lived in. You’re certainly making the most of the space available to you. One phrase that caught my attention was “zero timed”, can’t say I’ve heard it before but it made sense when you made mention of your interest in aviation.

Dude, amazing to see those artefacts still there, & your vlog is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by these young men. On a critical note, please invest in a decent microphone, as I couldn't hear a word of your dialogue at times thru wind noise, or do a narration over your footage when you edit. Also, practice your camera technique so you avoid camera shake, & pan slower & unless it's necessary try not to film when walking, unless you got a decent camera or gimbal. Regards........Urban Geeze.

@@OakMeadow23 Thanks for Reply bud. Here's something I learnt that may be of help to you. When you are looking directly at something in the first person, & you turn your head, your brain will instantly re-focus your eyes the move is seamless. When viewing a screen however, & you turned the camera at the same speed you turn your head or eyes, it will be seen as a jump to the viewer. To counter this, you need to move the camera at least 1/2 to maybe 1/3 the speed, you would look or turn your head, & also don't take your eyes off the screen as you are filming, to look at what you're filming, as you'll get camera shake. That's why it's not safe to move over uneven terrain when filming with a phone, as the viewing angle is not wide enough to focus on where you're stepping & the subject you're filming, so you will have to take your eyes off the screen to see where you're stepping,this will translate to the viewer as rapid up & down camera shake. With a bit of practise it will come as 2nd nature until you can afford a decent camera with good image stabilisation, & an external mic jack. Regards........Urban Geeze

I love your idea of 'repurposing' varying different kinds of trucks into especially clever and unique 'motor homes' and campers! You're a Brit and I'm a Yank, so you will almost certainly never have even heard of this company or of it's products as few here even have heard of, dare remember them, but considering your choices for subjects and tastes you would probably appreciate them. Please search "1941 FitzJohn 'Falcon Jr' bus, Peter Pan Lines". I searched and found this Internet link and pic of one not long ago, but I sadly don't know how to attach and include it in this YT format reply. I do know where one of these uncommon (83 years ago) examples are. In fact it's less than 50 miles from where Peter Pan Bus Lines continues to operate to this very day! Who knows, with a bit of sandpaper used in specific areas to verify, the one I know of and the one pictured in the link I found on the Internet might even be the same one...

If you'd like to clean and remove just the varnish and residue from your wheel cylinders (or anything else for that matter) in a more delicate manner just use an old 2nd hand stainless steel pan of sufficient size and the side burner of your outdoor barbeque grill and 'hot bath' them clean! Fill the pan with enough water to cover them, then add just a little of your favorite mild liquid detergent or degreaser like Dawn dish detergent, Lestoil, etc. Heat the water to just steaming before a boil, as heating too much creates bubbles and undesirable foaming. Shortly the hot water 'melts' the varnish/residue and the degreaser helps release it from the metal surfaces, the heavier the build-up the longer it stays in the bath. Add water as needed to keep all parts submerged until clean. A fine stainless steel or brass bristle toothbrush is also handy for cleaning stubborn areas. Then inspect and hone/polish with fine stones or wet-dry sandpaper and lubrication to your desired degree. DO NOT boil rubber or plastic parts as they will be ruined! Have a delicate vintage tin or brass kerosene (paraffin I believe in the UK) lantern with a hopelessly stuck fuel cap or burner/burner cone? The same 'hot bath' method done sufficiently will loosen it effectively and with no fear of doing any damage or harm to the fragile stuck bits or tender solder joints, and will loosen or remove any old, unwanted paint too! Got beautiful 100+ year old brass door knobs and lock plates, cast iron or brass or bronze window sash locks, sash lifts, window weight pulley assemblies, hinges, and all of them having raised and recessed fine details on them all buried under ??? many coats of God-only-knows what kinds of evil, impenetrable paint are on them, and somehow you not only want them clean but as original-looking as possible, and you don't want to spend the rest of your life trying to do it? It literally is as simple as water, a tiny bit of grease-cutting detergent, heat, and a bit of gentle, proper effort! No caustic chemicals, little to no harm to the environment or us, just the desired results. Where some of the old paint was still stubbornly clinging to parts in detail recesses, a bit of sharpened pegwood dislodged it and not only left no scratches stains or scars, but in many cases the original finish remaining needed nothing more than a bit of polishing! Best Regards, BK in USA

Great vid. I wnder do you know the bell housing bolt pattern of the MJ?
@OakMeadow23
7 ай бұрын
So the mj bell housing is a one piece,4 studs to the gearbox and once you drop the flywheel through the bottom inspection cover the there are 6 bolts in a fan around the crankshaft end from memory, pain in the arse as the rear engine mounts are on the bell housing and you need to drift out the mount bolts and support the back end of the engine to remove the bell housing. It's been a little while but I an pretty sure it's 6 bolts.
@backbeatpat
7 ай бұрын
Great detailed answer and thanks for reminding me that the engine mounts are integrated into the bell housing. You seem to be saying that the flywheel can be removed without removing the housing.
@OakMeadow23
7 ай бұрын
@backbeatpat yep ,so you can remove the flywheel bolts and post the flywheel out through the bell housing inspection cover .it's heavy , best to remove the starter as well so it doesn't snag on the ring gear.

Thanks guys, you are a credit to yourselves for putting her right. All the usual Bedford issues there, hub seals, brakes etc. I ran an MK Turbo on Plant work with a Hiab Crane and an RL Petrol flatbed with the Vacuum Servo system in the early 90’s until I converted it to Diesel. The MK saw the contract out and was sold but the RL’s Cab rotted out so I repaired it then it went to a collector with all the original parts for him to put back. I’m just reminiscing now but I would do another if I had the space and parts!. All the best.
