That is fucking marvellous! Always loved this track, full of vibe and atmosphere. When John starts shredding, he's so youthful (even now in 2024, in his 80s!) And his note selection has always been absolutely extraordinary and fascinating.

One of the greatest "fusion" compositions. At times they bring to back some of the loopy Bitches Brew outness. After all, Wooten excepted, this is the core BB lineup.

Chick is the clock ... he's in the pocket ... whilst John takes off, goes soloing, does his thang and always finds back to the groove ....but the drummer ... he's a little shakey and even Wooten looses track in some moments ... I guess playing in the presence of greatness, of giants .. ain't that easy ....

Every musician needs to learn this tune. Victor does a way-over-the-top solo while John M. just smiles and plays along.

As someone living in a whirlpool of depression and other bullshit, anytime I see Matt Pike, that all disappears. It makes me so happy to live in the same time as him. God luck and good speed, my man. Keep on truckin’ Mr. Pike!

I first heard JM on a couple of recordings with Miles. I have almost every recording that he was part of. I marvel at his ability to still perform at his age. He is and always has been one of my favorite musicians. Bravo maestro!

I love the bass and first saw Victor Wooten years ago with Bala Fleck. He’s a wonderful player with great creativity and percussive drive. In this setting, however, I think John Patitucci would have been a better fit, with both the chops and feel to match the setting. In an ideal world, Jaco would have also been around to sit in.

Technically and his relationship with his, what appears to be a PRS, is second to none but, the resultant sound makes no MUSICAL sense whatsoever... Sorry, I prefer music that remains in my mind long after the musician has stopped playing.

If people could interact in the same manner as free style musicians they would first decode, then understand, plan what is to be said then join in the conversation. What a fine World this would be.

I mean Victor Wooten has amazing talent and everything, but for me that solo was just a bunch of chaos. No space. No journey. Just noise and technical overkill.

There is no question of the bassist’s originality and talent. One phrase we know it’s Victor. I question his musical viability, though, especially after a guitar solo like this. Musician vs circus act?
