I can’t believe you have only 66 likes on this video, after cleaning up my EGR valve it still gave me the same code and after watching your video I found out that my plunger was stuck on the EGR valve

It's 100% factory other than the exhaust being drilled out .

Good clip, thanks for sharing man. Is this the SL1 SOHC engine? Were u able to reuse the gasket or did u have to replace it? How much $$ does the gasket go for? thanks again, take care from TN.

@@dansmith73 Seen any video clips on replacing valve stem seals on these engines?

I haven't actually although, I'm sure there's one out there. Shouldn't be too much different than any other valve seal, I wouldn't think.

Egr valve replacement comes with a new gasket or you can often reuse the old if its solid shape and not broken. Tight the bolts firmly not too tough and you will be fine. Clear the codes and rerun drive cycles. It should stay clear if you used wire brushes to clean the carbon of the valve and ports

did you need to put a new gasket on that thing or just put it back on?

Brett Boutan if I remember correctly, it had a silver gasket that I peeled off and reused .

On these older S series Saturn's the EGR getting clogged up and the throttle body clogging with carbon are common issues, If your going to own one go ahead and learn how to fix these two issues, its not hard and with youtube it's even easier. Also expect your belt tensioner to break at some point and the trailing arms go bad going to the back wheels. Keep an eye on your antifreeze because at some point the plastic piece at the top of your radiator will leak slowly since it's plastic so refill it or replace it with a new radiator. And lastly if you own one of these cars change your motor oil regularly and change your transmission fluid atleast every 50k because the way Saturns are made they need that fluid change. Chow! No wait also replace your temperature control sensor because it's plastic on top and WILL go bad. Ok I'm done - Proud owner of a 1996 Saturn and two 1999 Saturns

I wish I had found your comment last year... Owner of a used '96 saturn and all of the above happened to me (except belt tensioner, I'm getting on that now)
