Only one small error. At the very end you said it was a mainstay of the US Air Force. It was not. The Corsair was flown by the US Navy and Marine Corps.

Fue un caza de combate aereo, no fue nunca un bombardero, Sólo tenia cañones ametralladores o ametralladoras. No estaba hecho para bombardear nada en ataque a suelo. A ver si te informas un poco mejor...

When I was in high school I worked for a great man that was a pilot of one of these. He had some really good stories to tell from his days in WW 2. Some of his stories were funny some were very serious. I learned more from him than my history teacher in school. He did I tell me one though that I had to laugh at. He was able to fly the plane pretty much anywhere when he had his days off. He and crew would fly to Scotland and buy a bunch of whiskey and fly back to his base in England. Then sell all the whiskey. I was very fortunate to have met this great man. His name was Grant Lovewell.

I love this plane but how did the design team justify an aircraft that the pilot couldnt see out of to take off? This seems like an elementary disqualifying flaw.

Well, the Vought designers/engineers actually designed the XF4U-1 Corsair prototype without the extra long nose. The cockpit was originally positioned over the wings. (Almost three feet forward, from where it is now). The XF4U-1 prototype was armed with only two .50 caliber machine guns in the wings (one gun per wing) and either two .30 caliber ( or one .30 caliber and one .50 caliber....depending on which source) machine guns in the cowling. But the U.S. Navy wanted the plane to be heavier armed with additional .50 caliber machine guns, so the engineers added two more .50 caliber machine guns in each wing (total of three guns per wing), but they had to remove the inner wing fuel tanks from each wing to make room for the additional machine guns. Since this decreased the fuel capacity of the aircraft, the engineers decided to remove the two cowling machine guns and added a 237 gallon fuel tank in the fuselage, but had to push the cockpit back approximately 32 inches to make room for it. They had no choice. They had to place the added fuel tank in front of the cockpit to keep the center of gravity of the aircraft.

Not a correction but an addition. The Ford GAA engine was originally 12-cylinders and was meant to compete with the Roll-Royce Merlin in aircraft, but the US Army didn't need another aircraft engine. They did however need a tank engine. So Ford lopped off 4 cylinders and created an All-Aluminum 18 liter DOHC 32-VALVE!!! FLAT PLANE CRANK V-8 engine!! The largest all-aluminum liquid cooled V-8 ever built.

Thank you I really enjoyed your video of one of my personally favorite aircraft. So much detail with the cockpit ai with all the controls. Really cool. My father worked on skyraiders, another close support aircraft. Then what about the Lightning and the Mustang? And of course the A-10 on the more modern scale. Thanks again.

In the video, Adolf Galland was chosen as the Schwalbe pilot. He is the chief who had the in-cabin ashtray installation and the cigar-smoking Mickey Mouse emblem installed on each new plane when he was officially flying. The crazy thing in the Me-262 prototype trials, which refused to take off due to the rear wheel (in the first models, the wheel was at the back, not the front), took off the rear wheel from the ground with sudden braking while at take-off speed. Göring said, "This is not a step, but a leap in aviation" for jet technology after the flight. He has spent a career convincing his fat man and Hitler to produce more fighter planes. A sportsman who slapped a German lieutenant who shot at a British pilot who shot himself and then parachuted during the Battle of Britain, with his gloves when they returned to base. A brother who put aside his tiredness and personally participated in the search efforts until the morning with spare planes when Helmut Wick disappeared on the canal. At the meeting where he expected mass production of 262 fighters from Hitler, he asked "Can this bomb carry?" After answering the question "Yes, here is my lightning bomber!" Many years later, he admitted with a laugh that he thought Hitler was "a stupid idiot". rest in peace.

Wait is that you YarnHub?? Yes it is! So good to see you doing something in another channel. I really like the Vought F4U Corsair and is one of my favorites. They were pretty darn fast planes and had good maneuverability. Despite it having a large nose and visibility not quite as good as the Hellcat and Wildcat, it made up for its nifty airframe and wing design which I really like, high speed, maneuverability, and cockpit type. And it is also capable of carrying missiles as seen on the video.🙂 It also looks like an upside down flying V. 😆
