It makes me angry how some people claim to like Dune "ironically". I watched it in the theatre when I was a child, with my father. He died years ago. We did not get along, but that memory will always be special, unique and precious to me. I give thanks to David Lynch, Brian Eno and everyone who made that possible. For me. And for my father.

With all its flaws I just loved the original movie. I watch it at least once a year.It is a masterpiece. I read the entire series and there is no way one could translate the nuance and complexity on to film.

I say that the first Dune movie is more of a Space Opera, while the new Dune movies is more of a sci fi political drama. To me both are great movies, but they are different. I know David Lynch hates his movie, but I like it and always have. The soundtrack is part of that.

It's amazing how, after watching Dune: Part One and Two, I immediately went on to watch the David Lynch version. It feels like time unfolds differently in his film, the Lynch version is truly mesmerizing!

Grandiose, magical, mystical, cosmic, in a few musical phrases, Brian Eno, one of the most famous travelers in time and space, folds the universe for us and brings Arrakis to life before our eyes and in our hearts. Dune and its procession of cruelty, drama, and mortal splendors. Zimmer is so far behind that it almost becomes disloyal to try to compare them.

I just saw Dune Part II a few days ago. Relistening to the OST of David Lynch's 1984 version made me realise how Zimmer completely missed the score for Dune this time.

This track, much of Lisa Gerard's work, Pater Gabriel's Passion, some of Hans Zimmer's Dune composing (Begginnings are Such Delicate Times in particular) -- all are among the finest film scoring ever. Bi-lal kaifa.

It's crazy how much better and atmospheric this score is than what Hans Zimmer went with for the new movie. This is subtle, atmospheric and evokes something really alien, the otehr had just loud "dramatic" female oriental chants every 10 minutes that ruined every emotional moment .

I agree.I watched Part II last week and it's true - he managed to introduce a wonderful new theme, dialed down the generic desert woman screaming parts , and that really elevated the second movie for me.@@F1lip3JF
