This was incredibly well performed, truly the best performance of this scene I've ever seen. Is there a full recording of the show? After a quick KZitem search, other cast members have their songs posted online so I'd just love to know if there's a full version (and if so, I would even pay to watch it!). <3

The one thing I do wish is that audiences would pay more attention because every time I watch a different production's version of this monologue at least one person laughs at "He was really ancient...like 32" and it's really upsetting to me how often people don't seem to pick up on the horrific implications of that line

my ex boyfriend passed in a car crash last november and since then I've tried to notice every single little thing that makes me happy, every single time that I see something that makes me go god. what a wonderful thing to be around for. this song makes me sob every time. "it took a horrible accident for me to realise how goddamn wonderful everything really is." ❤

Wow… this is the first time I’m seeing Constance show this full emotional arc-you really sunk deep in the depressive stuck-ness that she felt, then captured realizing that small moments are actually bursting with joy and life, and I finally see why all the students are okay with not going back: even though their lives were cut so short, she made them realize that they can appreciate all the wonderful little moments they did get to have. I cried! Thank you!

Possibly one of the best performances of this piece and the monologue. You connected so well to the emotions of the scene and character, that the way you delivered all the lines felt natural, like it's Constance genuinely talking, and you were electric during Sugar Cloud, which as such a life-affirming song is key - what a pleasure to watch!

The performance of the monologue especially was INCREDIBLE OMG. Ill be honest, Constance was my least favourite female character in this show but that monologue was WOW one day I hope I’ll be as good of an actor as that it was SO GOOD. Argh now I wanna play Jane Doe, Ocean, AND Constance in this!!!!

I will forever be grateful that I had the pleasure of seeing this live. I went to the very last show and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since. Me and my family have connections with the beck center and I had seen a bunch of shows there before, so I was excited to say the least when I came to see ride the cyclone, but I don’t think anything could have prepared me for just how good this performance was. I’m so glad this production of ride the cyclone is getting the fame it deserves online because I think this has to be one of, if not my favorite show I have ever seen. Everything about it was absolutely incredible and all of the actors shone so bright, but Zoe Lewis’s performance as Constance has stuck with me more than anything. I’ve been a fan of ride the cyclone for years and years and I’ve always loved the music and the characters, but Constance was never really one that ever stood out to me. I listened to the cast album but sugar cloud was never a song that I played on repeat. Try as I might I could never understand why Constance’s song came last in the musical after the big grand ballad of jane doe. It never made sense to me until I heard that jawbreaker monologue live. To say that Zoe Lewis’s performance changed my entire perspective on the show would be an understatement, I don’t think I have ever felt as deeply for a character as I did Constance in that moment. She brought so much youth and love and life to Constance and made me feel understood in a way I had never felt before by a character in any kind of media. Everything about this monologue was phenomenal, the transitions from Constance using her trauma for laughs and validation, to the regret and complete hopelessness of being trapped in her town, to her realizing that it’s okay to love who she is and appreciate her life for what it was, because life itself is a beautiful thing. And it’s all capped off with this adorably endearing quirky awkwardness that gives such a sense of realism to every line she’s saying. By the time her monologue was over I was sobbing, and I didn’t stop bawling until the show ended. For the first time I could finally understand why Constance’s monologue and song came last in the musical, it’s because she is truly is what the show is all about in the first place. Appreciate your life for what it is and never been ashamed of who you are, you only get one life so don’t be afraid to love yourself, and thats a message I really needed to hear. Needless to say Constance is by far my favorite character now and I think it’s going be a long time before I ever see a performance that could top this one for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me understand how amazing Constance and life itself can be. I’m going to treasure this production of ride the cyclone and this performance of jawbreaker/sugar cloud forever. <3
