The thing is you can't flow without struggling real hard first. To transcend the ego, one first must have a real solid ego. The strength required to really, honestly, sincerely surrender (and not out of tiredness, or hypocrisy, or cowardice) is immense. That's why we need to build up to that strength by fighting relentlessly for something that we consider is worth fighting for. And if we don't let ourselves struggle and suffer, forget flowing, we'd be pretty miserable.

I had the worst year last year with my nephew having an OD & a friend killing themselves. Being in that negative headspace lead me to getting arrested one day. As I sat in my cell; I meditated and told myself I would fix my life once I got out. Currently I am still on that path and still growing. I've had to let go of those death and realize; rather than holding onto what was, I had to learn and smile the chance I had to be with them. Please, hug your loved ones because you really don't know when they'll be gone. Stay blessed.

From solely from an Artistic View point i'd say vagabond is Superior now now hear me out.. Taking Musashis Fight with the 70 Yoshiokas and Guts with.. well considering Guts's daily life, ok i mean his 100 man fight as an example, Inoue is able to convey what Musashi is feeling during the Fight better than Miura. his emotions his thoughts after every stroke is being conveyed better and his desperation to end it all is better seen, yes Miura is able to convey but its more the situation around guts than what Guts himself is going thru. thats why Musashi is said to be a better written charecter. cause Inoue was desperate day after day in conveying how musashi felt during each and every scene.

It's definitely a cycle. Sometimes flow is better than fight and vice versa. Every time I've fought it got to a point where digging deep for willpower didn't help me and I just surrendered to the flow instead. Those moments made me believe in destiny more too. You can steer the ship, but you don't control the waves

I just started Vagabond, and I'm having a little bit of a crisis that Berserk might not be my favorite manga anymore. I was cocky because I started Vinland Saga and didn't really like it, but this Vagabond shit is real.

They are about different topics. Berserk is about life, guts fights to survive. Vagabond is about art, takezo survives to fight. Berserk is more existential, and vagabond is more empirical. Or something like that.

My opinion Writings = vagabond Protagonist = vagabond Antagonist = berserk Side characters = berserk Character development = vagabond Story= berserk Plot= both or berserk Rivalry = vagabond Art = vagabond More art = berserk Detailed art = berserk Cool art and style = vagabond Great panels= berserk Emotions = both or berserk Depth = vagabond Journey = vagabond Appealing = berserk Fight scenes = both( can't decide both are goats berserk has more fight scenes and vagabond has cool fights) Arcs= berserk Mature = both or berserk ( just because 18+ scenes and crazy Gore, lore) Goal or ambition = vagabond Teachings = vagabond Real life = vagabond Psychology = berserk Philosophy = vagabond Consistency = berserk GOAT = BOTH ( both are goats)

I have realized something. The philosophy of each is represented through their art work, with Vagabond having a "flowy" and softer (?) art style, being that of freedom, where it teaches you to understand that destiny is preordained to you, wether it be by the heavens or not, all you can do is to accept, because when you do so, you truly become free. However, Berserk is that of the opposite, where its drawn with bold, rigid lines which partners well to the dark, gruesome fantastical story it tells. Its more pessimistic and takes on the idea of nihilism; you must fight, and carve out your own destiny. It is rejection of preordained fate, and that you must take control of issues with a tight grip, and fight, as man was made to fight. The bold lines and overly detailed panels gives the impression of struggle and that issues must be resolved head on, whilst with vagabond, be free and content with what life throws at you, and accept suffering as part of life.

I’ve read up to the 18th volume of Berserk, and I’ve ordered volume 1 of vagabond, I’m incredibly happy with Berserk, it’s by far the best manga I’ve ever read, and I’ve read Naruto, Tokyo ghoul, dragon ball z, demon slayer, and one piece just to name a few. I’ve also been very, very interested in vagabond

Any progression with Vagabond? My experience reading Vagabond is that it was a great read. For Berserk, I'm at the 33 volume and it's still an intriguing read.

@@shonenfanboy1943 Sadly, I haven’t had much time to read it, I’ve gotten about 2/3 through the first “Vizbig” volume, so about 2 regular volumes in. And I’ve got to say, it’s very good, the story is intriguing and interesting, and the characters aren’t stale. Definitely a good read so far, the second “Vizbig” Volume is on its way, and I hope I have more time to finish the first one!

Jordan peterson always says “become a monster and learn how to control it. That way a little of the monster can come out if you need it.” We are all supposed to fight but to have true understanding as to why we are fighting. Sometimes u roll with the punches and sometimes u deal them.

I noticed this too! But I haven't read enough of them to fully confirm it myself (Up to date with Vinland Saga, still catching up on Vagabond and Berserk) so thanks a lot! This might sound real cracked BUT I think I may be onto something when I say I guess it's the eastern version of a sigma male character, absorbing the same trauma and determination, but with a eastern philosophy of rebirth instead of a western one of perpetual decay. Unlike Guts, Musashi or Thorfinn, western "Literally Me" characters rarely redeem themselves, in fact, that's part of the appeal: to be unappologetic. Meanwhile, each of these japanese character's stories focus on rising from the aftermath of their sins, while western focus on the decent into sin. Maybe it's got something to do with engrained Buddhist vs Christian philosophies? I dunno, I just think it's interesting how different cultures tap into the same niche differently.
