A manual transmission would help a bit. Not much, but a bit. Most of these in Europe were 5 speed manuals. Listed 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 18,1. Those with the 250 turbo and 5 speed manual actually felt pretty brisk for what they were.

That sounds really nice. I’ve always wanted to experience the 190d manuals, but haven’t gotten the chance yet.

Most 190D were 4-speed manuals, actually. The 5-speed was optional, but many people actually prefer the 4-speed because the gearing makes the car a bit better at acceleration. The big advantage of the 5-speed is highway cruising at lower revvs.

@@dinispaulino7512 Depends a bit on what year and country probably. I know at least in Scandinavia and at least from -87 and on the 190D was listed as standard 5 speed. Yeah the 4 speed seems to have a slighly lower gearing in 1:st and 2:nd... Very strange.

Hey buddy. I'm new here on your channel. I just wanna tell you a couple things. As an old Mercedes owner u need to know a couple of things that are gonna be a headache or just pain in the ass about these old tanks. Look, these cars are great, well, they were great back in the 80s but they're still amazing. There will always be some things you will have to switch out such as springs, bushings and plugs. Since they're old cars they're not for races or cars for long drives. Even though they're super capable of doing long drives however it'd be better if you avoid doing long drives with them hehe I have had soo many disgusting experiences with mine. Anyways take care of that lady... I know it's gonna be tough for u because there will be something that you need to buy or change.... Just don't let those things overwhelm you. Those cars are super reliable and they're art bc cars like those will never be made anymore. Congrats for getting into this world called BENZ-MADNESS. Oh one important thing tho. U can find that headlight that your uncle smashed up on eBay for a pretty good price. I highly recommend you to switch up those ones that u have. U could buy the euro headlights those are more beautiful than the American ones. And if you come across with a star for the hood that'd be awesome. Good luck buddy with your 190.

What are the specs on that? Problem with the sdl is I hate the 2.88 diff which limits top speed to between 120 - 130 mph due to stock governed max rpm range. I had one I bumped up to 6.5k rpm...And increased fueling but only stock 5.5 mm elements.
