Jess really had nothing. Everyone in that town hated him, neither of his parents wanted him, he lost his place at Luke’s, and he lost the love of his life.

@@lauriecarson6483 I’m talking about Liz his crazy, alcoholic, drug addicted mother who dates/married men and puts herself before her son. Also Luke was wrong for doing that Jess was 18 years old and he didn’t have anyone, he could have heard him out about why he doesn’t want to repeat his senior year, and he’s being kind of hypocrite he mentioned before in S1 that he spent more time working in the his dad tool shop more so than school so he barley hit his degree. @@nejoudtourki6000 Luke set terms for Jess to stay. All he had to do was quit working at Walmart and go to school and graduate. Those are not unreasonable terms, especially since Jess was 18. It was only after Jess rejected these terms that Luke said he had to go. Luke gave Jess two options, and Jess chose the second one. Jess made his own bed.

Seriously, Luke felt like mom-shaming that woman for breastbreastfeeding her child at the hour it was hungry? Come on man, this is the 21st century! Not only is the law on mothers' side but also the vast majority of society. And the few prudes who still deem public breastfeeding "inappropriate" are unnecessarily sexualizing sth. that is perfectly natural. ... I know the character of Luke is actually a neat guy who was just generally pissed at the family taking up his tables every weekend, but he could've addressed it differently. I guess I'm just not a fan of the whole outdated plotline (at least i.r.l., I would've made it clear to him that I disagree with his outdated and overly hysterical attitude).

While I don’t have a problem with the breast-feeding, I do see Luke’s point prior to that. They shouldn’t come in and spend hours there without ordering food. They’re taking up valuable real estate in his diner and costing him money. And, as he often gets on to others, including Lorelei, for doing this same thing, it’s really not about the babies or the breast-feeding at all. That woman breast-feeding just meant he couldn’t go over there and make her leave.
@dayschange2

I agree. I have no problem with the breastfeeding. A group that large going to a diner every week and taking up that much space though? Just to order two ice teas to go? What are they even doing? Why are they there? Clearly they're not a group meeting for breakfast or to discuss work. If they're just there to get out of the house, they should meet at a park or something, not at a small business that needs the table space for paying customers.

This is literally why I love Jess (Milo for that matter). Sure he may have issues and he may not be the perfect boyfriend by the “Dean Standard” but he cuts straight to the point. There is clarity to his character and Milo did a great job of driving that home. Everyone else is mentioning his statement of “ NOTHING!!” and I’m not of the minority in that opinion either. The desperation, the plea... it did start to sound like whining there for a moment but this kid has a true sense of fear of what he might become if he doesn’t find some sort of grounding and foothold in life. The moments in the show when I am driven to a true emotional spot is when there is literal angst and heartache. Whether that was with Jess, Luke, Richard... or even Emily vs. Lorelai. But I have to say that those moments I appreciate the most are when Jess or Richard (RIP Edward) are involved - with Luke running in at a close second. That’s just me, though. Everyone has a preference and perspective on this show and I’m sure there are those that would disagree with me.

@@KurdtKobain_67 From Jess's point of view school was a waste of time to him. Especially in a town like Stars Hollow where they have the same teacher for multiple subjects. It is obvious that Jess is a gifted academic and was acting out. As he probably was thinking that the public school system wasn't enough for him. Also the fact that he came from such a disfunctional family probably made if hard for him to get his bareings on his life.

@@jakelam5089i agree to a certain extent. but jess was very intelligent as we saw throughout the show, and obviously no one could send him to a school that’s worthy of his skills but that’s hardly an excuse to not finish highschool and just blow it off. also, people come from worse families than him and still go on to do amazing things. his mother was a wackjob sure, and his father never showed up for him. but luke was treating him really well and gave him the opportunities that all kids have.
