Tyneham the Musical
Tyneham: No Small Sacrifice is a musical interpretation surrounding the downfall of Dorset ghost village, Tyneham, during November 1943. The village was evacuated by the War Office to train troops in readiness for D-Day. The villagers were promised they could return after the war, a promise that was never to be.2013 is the 70th anniversary of the evacuation. To celebrate this, a new theatre company,Generations Apart have brought to life the compelling history behind Tyneham's downfall. The musical captures the wide range of emotions and conflicting views of the villagers, highlighting the incredible sacrifice they made for their country. Tyneham unpicks human relationships and focuses on how, when we falter, there is almost always someone there for us.This unique portrayal of the Tyneham story is underpinned by an ambitious score from 17 year old Jordan Clarke, in his first professional role as composer. This has created an interesting relationship with librettist, Vince Jones (67).
