Bit of a shame seeing these old places wasting away . As a young bloke i lived in richmond Melbourne for my formative years , there where a lot of good old shops and department stores in the neighborhood, dimmeys , balls , and a bunch of other small old school shop businesses. These days the whole character of the area has changed , and not always in a good way . A walk around Melbourne burbs shopping areas and even some of the big shopping centres , many of the small businesses have left or gone belly up sadly , a sign of the times .

Boronia is going to become a "20 minute neighbourhood". This a WEF initiative implemented by Knox Council ( See details on council website). This means that people in Boronia will have everything they need in their neighbourhood. They will most probably start using the mall to accomplish this.

looks a little like a space ship had landed, with the vibrancy of the modern age, but a time capsule can be cruelled by time. Still has hot spots of activity, but wallowing in little activity elsewhere. A residential building there, capturing the northern sun would have strong appeal. but that would require underground parking, with sets of lights at the southern and northern entry and exit points, onto Boronia and Chandler Roads.

I am 64 and lived in Bayswater .... but my mother worked at Hannahs Bakery in 1974..... Then we left for Darwin..... I came and lived in Central Avenue Boronia in 1982/3 and went in there a few times but it was different.... then I returned to live in Darwin.

Sight n Sound! I've promised to take my vinyl loving daughter there since I bought music there as a teen! The Mall would be perfect for a Stranger Things episode!

My grandmother Doris Saville made a lot of costumes for the mall, including the Easter Bunny you showed.

Here’s cheers to you. A brilliant doco and takes a lot to keep me watching. You must do something like this, all the time. It was excellent I live in NSW, south west Sydney, before that Lindfield. 😀🏪

I’m 48 and used to go there as a kid too…..didn’t realise it was still there. Even though I live nearby in Ringwood I haven’t been to Boronia in years.

I knew your dad many years ago, he was part of my housing cooperative. I am sad I never got to reconnect with him outside of that sad and crazy forum. 🙏

I remember that huge chandelier as a kid, the brownish-orange tiles, the staircase. Haven’t been there in decades.

The subject might be highly niche, I mean, I've never been to this mall cause I live in QLD, but jeez, less than 30 views is criminal, this was a rather well made and funny video.
