i want my 2.0 8v like that, daily drive but with some kicking power. I was looking at nuespeed website page and they have discontinued making superchargers for 2.0l

+wearesupreme I have to say I chipped my 2.0 and I can rev it past 7k it goes to 7200 rpm. obviously in an 8v its useless but its nice to shift around 6k I do have 1 fucked up axle boot haha that's another story though.

gotta say, video is great. and a just to all the 300hp aspirated people out there.... a 170-200hp well balanced car, suspension, good clutch, great brakes, little higher rev. and comfy seats, good stereo... can be alot more fun than a tubbed out 1000hp monster. id much rather have a fun daily driver with minimal maintenance issues. Kudos to TUNEYOURVW. awesome car.

@Chockomon this is one of the smartest comments ever put in a KZitem video! So many people have become obsessed with a bhp number that they forgot how to build fun cars. A huge number does NOT mean fun, especially in a fwd car...once you get near/above 200whp the power starts to become useless and just gets burnt away at the tires. Starting at roughly 2550lbs/1160kg it doesn't take much power to make these thing hugely fun daily drivers with great economy too. :) Kei

@m1rchegfn No idea, dude. Never dynoed. I could speculate all day, but I would be, well, speculating. 2.0l, single overhead cam, 2-valves per cylinder. Roots blower, non-intercooled @ 6psi. Mild cam, upgraded valvetrain and an exhaust. Pretty mild hp figures I'm sure. I didn't care though. The car was a blast to drive.

@Buxpo A portion of my income was/is disposable. Several thousands were spent on that car. Between the engine work, suspension, wheels, bigger brakes, interior, etc. The car was built to be a driver's car. It wasn't super fast in a straight line, but it handled like it was on rails and looked pretty good to boot. On a tight road or around town, it was hard not to have a big grin on your face.
@TUNEYOURVW

@tousterthao The car had a mild cam, upgraded valve springs and lightweight MkIV 20v lifters. Stock valvetrain would not have revved that high safely.

@kaptinkracker No dude I was just toeing it... Come on. Yeah, I had the pedal floored. Like my description says, if I wanted fast[er] I would've turboed. This was my daily for a long time. Tens of thousands of miles were put on that s/c setup. Not one problem the whole time. I enjoyed it throughly.

@chincora It's a low-boost, low-power application. I think you would be fine. Surf the forums, read up on it. I'm sure you'll find someone out there with one that could share their knowledge.

neuspeed claims about 135whp on a pure stock car. add supposrting mods and im sure 150whp is feasible. not too bad for a sohc. also if its just a daily driver it's great cuz its still very reliable and boost is almost instant cuz its a supercharger. u can also buy a smaller pulley for the s/c to up the boost too although u will have to run high octane or if you are feelin frisky u could always add meth injection.

Other mods include: 260/256 cam, lightweight valvetrain, TT exhaust, lightweight stock diameter crank pulley (custom billet- made by a VW friend of mine). that's it for mods that effect power output.

thank you for being a true VW guy. Gotta love the 2.0 16V's, those were fun. Whatever happened to playing with the suspension and making sure the car ran right to have fun? Now everybody wants 300hp to go straight line fast. -_-

hello. i can only imagine your AGG engine code is drastically different from my ABA. emissions would be different amongst other things. if i lived on that side of the pond, i would source an ABF 2.0l 16v from a MKIII golf/gti and drop that into place of your AGG. 150bhp stock and lots of potential.
@TUNEYOURVW

what gen of VWs have you owned? if you grew up with 1.8ts then you're spoiled. i came from mkI 1.8l 8vs, mkII 2.0l 16vs, and early VRs in corrados. this car is a blast to drive. it's not 1/4 fast, but the car handles like it's on rails and the torque puts you back for sure. the car is a beast through an auto-x course. yeah and don't forget this engine has about 90whp stock. 90whp doesn't go like that.
@JettaJoe

Hi Do you know if there are there any substantial differences between your american ABA engine and european 2.0 8v's like my AGG? I would like to mod my engine, and some people told me that the result wouldn't be reliable, but seeing you drive 20000+ miles a year in a supercharged one... Did you reinforce any part of the engine when you installed the supercharger?

thanks. it was a fun little car. yeah, 6psi. stock 2.8" pulley. and by bigger i think you mean smaller.. neuspeed makes a 2.6" pulley and if my memory serves me right, it will give you 2 more pounds of boost.

1)daily driver. 20k+ miles/year. not my track car. 2)do you have the slightest clue as to whats required in an ABA 16v build? it would take weeks to source, build & tune an ABA 16v. heres the tip of it: COMPLETE 9a 16v head w/ manifold, 9a 16v pistons, g60 throttle body, 9a 16v oil pump, 9a 16v water pump, 9a 16v alternator & acc. pulleys, CIS fuel pump, g60 FPR, ETC.. i bought the s/c, some beers & it was done in one afternoon. typical armchair racer response. do your homework next time.
