I absolutely love mine, bought 2 1/2 years ago, and they are still in great shape; except for the back side inside the foot ankle area; it already has a hole in it! how did the same area on your shoes held up!? just curious!

i don't think this guy knows that "suede" is "leather". Suede is just a napped finish to leather, traditionally it was napped leather from the underside of animals, "due to that part of the animals hide being naturally softer".

Yea its a pot metal so it will break if you bend it outwards. The U shape in the top hook there is only meant to catch the shoelace. You can see mine at the beginning had the same issue when I tried to bend it outwards to give more clearance for the shoe lace. Just leave it alone and also OBOZ has decent warranty so try and contact them.

I have their Sawtooth in waterproof and non-waterproof low, and waterproof mid. When I find something that works I stick with it. I have an EE foot, and a lot of brands just flat out don't fit me. For whatever reason, Oboz shoes fit me really well. The waterproofing really only comes into play for me in snow because I live where it's very dry. I get great traction on rock, dirt, and the decomposed granite that pretty much all the trails I hike are made up of. Even tree roots. Now that they offer wide widths, my heavy backpacking boots are Asolo, and I think that for their intended use, the Oboz are up there with Asolo.

I bought mine about 3 years ago, replaced the inserts with Dr ordered pads. I do trail maintenance here in Florida. The "waterproof is still working great, with the exception of the separation at the outsole, just like yours! That is my only complaint! I'm ordering another pair as these impressed me so much, and the fact they are still being made! These have really stood up well. I have been from trudging through wet fieldgrass to literally thighdeep and until I went over the top of the boot they worked well, and still do!

I'm trying to say that even when battered these boots still do their jobs. I still used the beat up ones for yard work and mucked jobs but use the new one for actual hiking and camping.

Totally agree with you. And I just used my old pair on another trail and they were fine! I will not be getting rid of these anytime soon. During our drier season these will still be great. During wetter seasons, the new pair will be on my feet.

Had a pair that I paid $180.00 for almost 3 years ago. I wore them almost everyday as an outside sales rep in Detroit, MI . They are perhaps the best boots that I've ever owned. Mud, snow, and rain have never been a problem. I feel they will last another year with no problem. Thanks Oboz.

Dude you really used those puppies LOL dang.... A huge positive is the toe caps ..That's usually where all my boots and hikers fail me most. Second is the the heels , I HATE shoes with crappy heels that cave in after a few months. I bought a pair of Merrells which I like so far but these Oboz look more rugged . I use hikers for my everyday users cause I have such bony heels. I ruin my socks within a couple months and my shoes used to get destroyed withing 3 to 5 months . I've found that hikers just last me longer...I'll probably give these a try next time.

Obviously you did not take care of them that well, after a hiking trip you should always take care of your boots, clean the mud and what not, brush them thoroughly, clean the grips properly. Then dry the boots and then put oil or protector on them and they would have last much longer than 4 years. I still got my Danner from 1980 and is still in very good shape. Point is take care of your boots

What a phenomenal waste of time and energy for $180 boots. There's nothing you can possibly do to prevent a midsole wearing out after 3 years of real use. Shoes are a consumable if you do anything serious on your feet anyway.

Fantastic boots. Like these, Vasque Breeze 3 are also very comfortable out of the box with little break in needed. Thinking about getting 8 inch tall Bridgers for winter use.

Been eyeing those 8 inch tall ones myself but haven't had issue with these during the winter. But I'm nowhere near in need for them. I don't go to the mountains like that.

Were you able to test these on ice? If so, do these grip ice well?
@Ballistic641
3 жыл бұрын
Hey good question. All year long. Obviously during the summer, I would sweat more in these, but for the grip it's def worth it. In winter, these were perfect for high snow and ice. I'm not sprinting like Usain Bolt in these on Ice but I never had a bad fall while wearing these. In these boots, you'll be able to easily tell if you're gonna fall or if you have good grip.

I bought mine in 2017, they are really bad on flat smooth ice as the heel is too narrow, but WizBang is correct, they fit snug so you can keep your balance really well. They are fine in rough ice. I learned just to walk around flat smooth ice. I wore these boots in -30F for 3 mile commute each way and they did great up to -10F, but beyond that my toes got cold after an hour. I used foot warmers and was good for 6 - 8 hours.

@Ballistic641

Hello there, The waterproofing on the OLD pair still holds strong and I love them for that reason. The NEW ones do not hold off water like the old leather pair. You notice in the tongue that the suede absolutely holds water but still doesn't allow it in unless you're in water for a little too long. Leather > Suede
