thanks for the video, very informative, Just had to remove the ring around the pump yesterday. In case the ring is rusted and is stuck, spray some wd40 inside the little holes of the ring and leave overnight. The next morning it came off like nothing.

pro tip. drop the washer fluid reservoir. one bolt on top and 2 underneath (under the wheel well tho.). its worth it tho, trust me. It will give you more clearance and save alot of headache. you dont need to remove it all the way. just let it drop a bit until you get the clearance you need. Then fish the old alternator out and put the new one in. Also, you dont need to remove the front hood shroud. Waste of time. Doesnt give anymore clearance.

by hood shroud, i mean the plastic the covers the radiator, not the engine cover. The engine cover definitely needs to come off.

Thank you for the video man. It sucked doing this in the rain . Helpful tips. I add a couple more thou. Do this job all at once or you might forget little things like the wiring bracket he talks about is what holds the top of the alternator, I did. also wait till you have the alternator down passed the head before reconnecting the ac wire. that harness kept getting in the way.

Thank you very helpful video. I did discover that pulling out the windshield washer bottle and the power steering reservoir made it even easier. I did not have to pull a lot of the other brackets.

Need a Six point on that Tension.. It will strip out with a 12 point... As that shock is tough to push back. Ask me how I know that pot metal tension bolt is cheap. I had to buy a new one for customer. As they stripped it out first.

Good point, six point = more surface area on the part, less on the corners. Thank you for the tip, I don’t want to replace what I don’t have to!

The lil switch on the side is a trigger sensitivity switch or how they call it...it allows you to increase or decrease the sensitivity or the weight of the trigger pull....more bands you have on,the more tension your trigger has, so you would have to increase the sensitivity or use a lighter trigger to maintain accuracy. ?

The Arka Competition in the video was actually returned due to a defect. If you watch at 5:29 there is a crack in the plastic on the top of the trigger assembly. This particular spear gun used that plastic part to hold the spear shaft on to the trigger. If it cracks as you see in the video the shaft has the potential to move up over the trigger and fire without the trigger being pulled. I tried to get a replacement trigger assembly for the unit from where I had purchased it, they would only return the whole unit. After returning it, I determined that I would look for a speargun that would not have this potential problem. I found it. Beuchat Mundial Competition. Still meets the requirements of being inexpensive, but it has a 28mm tube and the trigger/safety assembly is a whole lot more reliable. Video on that Speargun will be up soon.

The clamps you used may be fine, but there are fuel clamps that are designed specifically for this purpose that are less potentially destructive to the hose (the contact surface is smooth all the way around). The type you're using has the screw slots in direct contact with the hose and over time this can be a problem. I mention this because over the decades of doing mechanics I have seen this problem arise more often than you might think.
@strangebrewski

Thank you for the input. I never thought about the damage from the hose clamps. Are the smooth ones readily available at the auto parts store? I will look at replacing mine. Again Thank you for the good information.

You're welcome. I got mine at a BMW dealership. I looked on Amazon but they seem to only sell kits (I don't need 84 assorted sizes of hose clamps, but you might). The BMW dealer sold me only what I needed and they weren't too terribly expensive. And don't use spring clamps (the type you see on lawnmowers), the pressure is too high for them to be trusted.
