I know that Zeta was very traumatic but I feel that Unicorn is very emotional of all of the Gundam series, I found it resonating with me more on that note than the normal holy shit I just watch half the cast die kind of way. Like it really tired to sell us that there was some kind of hope for the people in the Gundam universe when we in reality know that is truly not the case.

This was like Zeon's last real big hurrah moment. Sure Mars Zeon later, but by that point in time, it was basically an entirely new thing. They were barely even remembered as Mars Zeon, instead more often called the Oldsmobile Army, and in the UC 120's, most of the actual Zeon soldiers left would be in their 60's at least. So that's why I say the Battle of Torrington was like their last big hurrah for og zeon at least.
