73 i bought a yellow volkswagenporshe with a 2.0L vw engine it had some chromed parts and removable top and a perfect midle engine well calibrated and fun to drive , the porshe 914 came out in mid 70´s in two versions one powerfull and other more powerfull not with chromed bits and expensive but it was nice allthough today they look bad when new were beautifull .the first showed is a volks it even as the chromed bits and rearview side mirror like the beetle, the old gizer hangs on top of the steeringwheel, who am i to speak i´m 80 but i dont look like that guy with the hat turned in the back, nice he now can aford his favorite car nice work it´s fine by me

Hello @RUfromthe40s - sorry for my delay and yes, the fun of driving a 914, whether clean or not so clean - that little mid-engine with the flat 4 or 6 was a special collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen. Porsche's first production year for the 914 was 1969 thru 1976 and it was 1970-1971 that the 914-6 entered the market, whether narrow body or the GT with fender flares. Now - in regards to 'the old geezer' - yes, I do lean forward, but not because I'm old - I just like to be on top of the wheel and don't wanna reach for the shift knob. If my upper back was back in the seat, and being only 5'7" - the throw forward would be a reach for me. And, the cap backwards is my trade mark - thanks for your comment, appreciate it - CheeRS

@@Richardsdelegance i agree with you but volkswagen built it witha 2.0L engine not from Porshe only in mid 70´s they made it porshe ,i bought one when i was 21 in yellow ,and it´s only natural. Porshe were first built from non destroyd unassembled vw beetle´s they beaten the panels till they were more low to the ground from the Nazi years and sold in california that allowed Ferdinad Porshe to be released from prison by the french with the sales that were a lot in the U.S. and the idea was from his son and he paid millions at the time and liberate his father ferdinad Porshe so both brands grew up together ,today i drive as my daily driver a Skoda Octavia diesel the lights knob is the same as in the most expensive new porshe 911, or like in a Audi or VW or SEAT all VW group, but only in mid 70´s the made the porshe 914/6 first only volkswagenporshe long but in metal and atatched to the body in the back what a ride even with the 2.0L VW, on top of the engine the cover says volkswagen not porshe ,the ones who say the reverse were made by it´s owners

Sepia is probably the second most unloved color for '73 (Royal Purple takes bottom spot). But this car looks fantastic. The F-body chassis with 3.2 is such a great combination...
@Richardsdelegance
3 күн бұрын
Hey @billkelly2889 - and yes, Sepia Brown was available from 1969 to 1973 and was NOT a popular color at all, but Porsche a few years ago decide to bring back those earlier retro colors. Which gave me the opportunity when I purchased my 2023 911 Targa 4 GTS in a PTS to also choose Sepia Brown. That gave me two Sepia Brown Porsches 50 years apart. And yes, the F body with the '86 3.2L has been a great combination for me. Thanks for your comment - CheeRS

Hey @sk3LeTvM1 - thanks for you comment, but I'm a bit confused - what would 1 of 12 modified 914's not make this an 'uber rare' Porsche. Certainly 'only 1 ever made' would also qualify for being 'uber rare', but the build on my 914 is unique and rare in it's own right. Congrats on your Cabrio and having worked for Porsche - do you still own that 914? Thanks again and CheeRS

I don't think that's an upside down 915 transmission. It has a hole in the bell housing for a "push" type clutch and the number of ribs on the "bottom" is wrong. He also said that it has a 904 main shaft. That absolutely would not fit in a 915 case and it was hardly needed. The 915 would have different gear sets. There are some other clues I'm not as sure of. What I suspect is in the car is a 901 case, similar to the 914.

Hey man, thanks for your input. I didn't build the car myself and I don't have the expertise on this matter you seem to have, I could only go based on what I was told when I bought it. I have an email with details on the setup I received after purchase. It explains everything I spoke about and more. I can send it your way and we can go over the details. Ultimately I'd like to be 100% correct on this matter because my knowledge on Porsches I don't take lightly, esp the ones I own. So, let me know what you think and I look forward to hearing from you soon - cheeRS

Perhaps, I could sell my Corolla here and buy a Porsche in the US. There is no 400% tax placed on cars in the US and there's definitely no Certificate of Entitlement required in the US. What a way to control car ownership in my country. So cool, the Porsche even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
