I think that some of the buildings in the background are a part of the WW2 POW camp. I grew up on the other side of the estuary opposite Penclawdd back in the 1970s and we used to sometimes pick cockles and take them home to eat. Also used to deadline fish. It was a great place to grow up. Sadly, sometimes these donkeys and ponies would drown or die and get washed up on the mud flats opposite.
