Doesn't work! The amount of time I've wasted attempting this I could've just worked overtime and bought 5 tanks. Now I have a screwed tank. Notice that nobody has come back a couple years later saying that it's still good🤔. Absolute waste of time!

What did you use to clean the tank with to make it so perfectly clean without destroying the plastic? Thank you

I just wash them out with degreaser. You can make them look almost new with a soak in detergent with bleach.

Did you have to bleed the oil lines to remove any POTENTIAL air bubbles when replacing the tank or is it possible that no air would get into the oil lines when removing the bottom fitting and grommet from the oil tank?

If you clamp the lines right near the tank, when you put it back in and fill up, the air will rise up in the tank leaving no air trapped in the oil lines.

that really does not work, but it looks good. the joints crack open with vibration because the plastic just lays on top of the tank. there is no penetration you can just scrape the plastic back off. tried it 4 times, through sanding and cleaning.

Uummm, wrong. You either didn't have it clean OR were using the wrong type of plastic as welding rod.

Used this method to fill rock gouges in my skis 45 years ago... Down hill snow skis that is! Used to be able to buy PTEX (??) sticks at the ski shop and fill the gouges. Great find to make it work with this oil tank!

Just fixed my sons on his 2001 GTI. Worked just as you described it. The only difference for me is I used black tubing instead of clear. Thanks for the Vid!!

What material are the sea-doo oil tanks made of? PE, PVC, PP, PPE, PPE+PS, HPDE, LDPE? Says must have an exact match for welding, assume yours held up good, you said PE, but looks more like a PP? www.polyvance.com/identify.php

cool fix! did you clean out the tank first or just go at it? i need to do this to my RX.
@pwcrepair

You must clean the tank thoroughly first. If you don't, the oil will seep out of the seam contaminating the 'weld'.
