Fiona was right in this… I speak as the oldest sibling..looking after the younger ones it wasn’t our responsibility.. we did it cause she wouldn’t

Holy … years ago when this show came out, my siblings really got into it. They used to always want me to watch it. They said I was Fiona. I refused to watch it and I didn’t like them watching it because I felt it was a bad example. Years later, I see this. They were trying to tell me something and I missed the mark… my God… my heart breaks.

"Shut up frank"❤! Well said. "Made something blow up for his science fair"😄.I can't wait to see this. I can definitely relate to this😡😣. My mother was always negligent. Extremely selfish. Fucked up my life especially as someone with mild autism. Only ever wanted me for her own benefits. If there's one thing i know about parenting and as a none parent is that you can't wait for your child to grow up just to make your life easier you're supposed to be there for your kids until the day they grow old enough to take care of themselves! Once you refuse to be a parent don't expect to ever do it. 18 years is the expiration date. Family's more than blood. I imagined saying this to certain others. Every mom must know this. But damn did she really need to leave?

I love this show soooo much!!! Flaky irresponsible parents are the WORST! I feel her pain. Emmy is BEAUTIFUL and is such a great actress! I cried multiple times. Like this show so much I bought all 11 seasons on dvd. It is classic. Hits home.

I miss THIS Fiona. I'm convinced Emmy Rossum's behavior on set is what lead the writers to change her character to being so unlikable.

I find it SO weird that people make excuses for Frank and Monica with things like “oh, he was abused by his parents” “yeah, but she’s bipolar” but they don’t do the same for Fiona. Yes, of course you’re gonna raise kids in a fucked up way when you’re completely broke, been a parent since you were nine, and the only examples you have are alcoholic, neglectful, drug addicts who were the ones to abandon you in the first place.

When Monica says “maybe I will never make things right with you Fiona” and then turns to the younger kids, “Carl and Debbie” saying that she’s sorry for hurting them, and saying she loved them, just shows that she wasn’t interested in trying to make things right with Fiona, and because Fiona stood her ground, Monica decided to move onto the younger children, who were the most vulnerable and impressionable, because it was easier for her, and she was desperately grasping for someone’s approval, to feel less guilty. This is the shit toxic people do. If she was a caring person, wanting to be a better parent, she would have actually put the effort in, and take on the responsibilities, instead of shrugging off Fiona, and giving a weak apology to the little ones. I remember feeling so satisfied, when Fiona expressed herself to her the way she did. She worded everything perfectly.

Ill never forget in that court room when Fiona told the story of how she was 6 years old having to take Lip under her arm, and Ian with a 105 fever under her other to the hospital. Frank was in the bar getting drunk and left them outside. Didnt come back for days. And the first thing he did when he did come back was ask Fiona for money. Fiona gave up her life for them. She gave up everything to make sure they all survived and thrived despite all odds. And they treated her like shit for it.
