Must put a taper on the end before milking the line back over big stress raiser if there is no taper.

1. How does this compare in strength or durability to a "tied" Brummel knot (without the sewing stitches)? 2. Why do most kite-board control bars choose this method over the non-sewn Brummel knot?

1. It's stronger than Brummel, because as soon as brummel starts to move it can break. If the Brummel is not moving it's same strength, but it CAN move if it is not perfect. This one cannot move, so it's safer. But not everybody has a sweing machine, that's why brummel lock is more popular. 2. Most brands I know ose either this method (sewed splice) or put the line in a cover and sew that, which works better when you copnnect/disconnect the line a lot. Brummel lock is more work and worse than a sewed splice - if you got a sweing machine it's the obvious choice over a brummel.
