All these impressive, magical runs, and no cups... So sad. But man were they some good memories.

U can’t hate UConn. We play old school Big East basketball with an underdog mentality even when we are a 1 seed. That’s the house that Calhoun built. It’s the traditions that continues with Coach Hurley.

I remember cursing this Rangers team all game. When they tied it I didn't even cheer. I yelled out "THANK YOU! ABOUT 🤬ING TIME" I was so damn sick of them not scoring in the playoffs that I actually turned them off a few times to watch the Islanders-Penguins series because they were actually entertaining games. To this day I hate Tortorella for this boring ass team and Gaborik for folding like a cheap suit in the playoffs.

The lucky breaks the Rangers have gotten over the years vs the Caps. This, then in 15 when they were 1:41 away from elimination in Game 5 to have Kreider tie it and McDonaugh win it in overtime. Win Game 6, and of course Stepan in Game 7 (not as iconic as Matteau, Matteau) but arguably the modern day version of it.

As a Uconn alumni who was there for Tate George's shot vs. Clemson, that shot is still the best moment, because we hadn't been anywhere before that happened. That was the shot that made Uconn believe they could do great things.

@@RavenThom The accuracy of the nearly full court inbound pass (with a 6'11' defender blocking your view) coupled with the clean catch of the ball AND managing to release the shot BEFORE the buzzer AND then making the shot. I would guess that the odds of ALL of these things happening was no more than 1%. This should have been rated #1.

good list, but misses the 1987-88 season when the underdog UConn team beat #9 and #14 Georgetown teams and eventually won the NIT with Cliff Robinson, Phil Gamble and roster of great role players:Jeff King, Lyman DePriest, Steve Pikiel and others. That season marked UConn's rise, and for those on campus that year it was pretty amazing to experience.

yeah. pretty horrible. To be fair though it was expected Uconn would win when the tourney began. That team was preseason #1 but had injury issues during the season. Once they got rolling in march it was pretty clear they were the best team in the country. If it wasn't for some shitty calls by the refs Duke wouldve gotten blown out but the refs made sure that wasn't the case.

I can’t believe how UConn was a 10 underdog in this game when they were a number 1 seed, finished the season number 2 in the coaches poll with a 34-2 record. No respect just because it was Duke. We proved all the critics wrong that night.
@billyboblillybob344
3 жыл бұрын
Believe it. In the PRESEASON, the tournament was called the Duke Invitational as nobody gave anybody a chance against Duke. It was the championship that should have occurred since the only #1 teams in any poll, during the whole of the year was either Duke or UConn. Duke met its expectations while UConn exceeded its expectations by winning this game.

The reason why the capitals had to blow this lead late in the 3rd period of game 5 is because of Joel Ward. He costed his team the game by taking a double minor penalty. Now if the Capitals didn't take a double minor penalty, then the capitals would have won game 5 to take the series lead 3 games to 2 and go on to the eastern conference final, then.

Even with the double minor penalty, the game still could have been won. They just had to kill off the penalty for 21 seconds. And if Holtby would have been able to cover the puck a split second before Brad Richards got his stick on it, this is a completely different story, as it would have been another faceoff, which would have eaten up the remaining time.
