I think it was once mentioned on the group, it was decided that he was a Chazzan in Vilna at the turn of the century, after an early recording was found of part of this kedusha, dated around 1915, it seem to recall

@@NathanMGluck Yes very strange, but perhaps it only gained popularity later. Besides there's very few Kedusha settings at all in the blue book 🙂 Would love to find this recording, or anything more about him. I've seen a version of this with a Yimloch as well, but can't find the relevant Hu Elokeinu (which I assume exists somewhere)

You are welcome. Please feel free to use the other parts of musaph - malachiyos and zichronos. Zichronos is my favourite. I don’t know who actually composed this. It is Nusach based but the format is what was done in Schneider’s yeshiva in Stamford Hill (this is how it was presented to me and I learnt it this way. It is a hugely popular piece in my Shul (although I retired from Chazonus in 2020)

@@NathanMGluckThank you! I am gratified. May I ask - maybe you have not put it on your channel yet: Your versions of the weekday Amidah, Korbanos (if they have a melody?), Shma Yisroel, Bircas Hamazon. In other words, those Tfilos that we regularly say on weekdays? If you could find the time at some point and put those up - you are the only person on youtube, it seems, who is publishing Tfilos with proper Nusach Ashkenaz. Thank you so much and Shavua tov

A beautiful song, that covers the period of the Ten Days of Repentance. Much is Yiddish, the refrain is Hebrew (taken from the prayer service. Here is my pass at translation (it is not perfect): When the ten days of awe arrive, the ten days of repentance Every Jew has only one thing in his thoughts: Remember us for life, O King who desires in life, and inscribe us in the book of life God should decide to send us life for the new year. There is no person who only does good and does not sin, this a Jew knows There is no person a world, even a righteous person, who does not sin. And therefore he asks the Master of the World, Forgive us, pardon us, atone us. Remember us for life, O King who desires in life, and inscribe us in the book of life God should decide to send us life for the new year. And now it is the eve of Yom Kippur [tempo becomes very quick, I am missing a few words in the translation] He purifies himself [i.e. goes to the mikva], performs the kapores ceremony “Those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death” [a quote from the Kapores ceremony] He goes to the synagogue, and prays: Remember us for life, O King who desires in life, and inscribe us in the book of life God should decide to send us life for the new year. And entire day he fasts and bangs his chest, and recites all the prayers He begs for forgiveness and pardon, it is now Neila time. All the hearts are a bit lighter, and all the Jews sing [he sings this in the traditional Neila melody] Oy oy oy oy oy oy oy oy Remember us for life, O King who desires in life, and seal us in the book of life God should decide to send us life for the new year. Next Year in Jerusalem!

Lovely singing. This tune differs from most instrumental versions as the B and C parts have different melodies than all other instrumental versions, of which I am aware. Evidently, he used the same arrangement as the great Jan Peerce. One point: Watching his hands made me think, “ I caught a fish, this big!”

Is the minhag to say "Hoshano" only after the words, not before and after like the Artscroll nusach?
@NathanMGluck
4 жыл бұрын
Aaron Chaim David On this recording I have followed the minhag of GGBH
@AaronChaimDavid
4 жыл бұрын
@@NathanMGluck So the GGBH minhag is for the 1st four introductory lines, only say "Hoshano" at the end. And then for the daily paragraph, only to say Hoshano in two 'blocks' during the paragraph. Is that correct?
@NathanMGluck
4 жыл бұрын
Aaron Chaim David Not quite. The introductory paragraph at GGBH is as I did it in terms of placement of Hoshano. During the Hakofo it is a practical consideration. If there is a large crowd then getting everyone through the hakofo has to be adjusted in terms of the chazan not being ‘stranded’ at the back of the shul with nothing to say until he can work his way through back to the omud. Ie it’s a practical consideration as to how many breaks for Hoshano one makes so that the chazan finishes the Hoshano by the omud
